Guest guest
Yadu-srestha prabhu PAMHO AGT Srila Prabhupada Thanks for your very informative reply to my queries; most helpful. Followup: <<(2) Goravani's program which sells for around 300$ has an excellent reputation . He is a Vaisnava so if you want first class software it is nice to support someone who us trying to preach Krishna consciousness through astrology .>> Although I won't be able to put out $300 bucks for a program for awhile, I may later consider it if it fills a need. What does it do for that much laxmi? Do you know anybody using it? (Is Goravani also connected to SJVA? What is his full name?) <<If you just want basic chart calculations Shyamasundara Prabhu has a free program on his conference .Sanjay Rath has free software Jagganth Hora Lite which can be downloaded off the internet .>> As it turns out, I just downloaded JHL last week and have just generated a chart. Looks good. (Now if I could get somebody to interpet....) However, I do believe the author is PVN(R?) Rao, living near Boston, not Sanjay, whose name is Sharma. (Rao considers him one of his three siksha gurus, along with his father and BV Raman.) If that is "Lite", is there a full vs.?. <<There is also free software called Junior Jyotish from Brian Conrad which can be downloaded from the internet . This program calculates according to the Systems Approach of Professor V.K .Choudhry .>> Could you give the gist of his "Systems Approach"? <<(3) Light on Life by Hart de Fowe and Robert Svaboda is a very good introductory book.>> Great reinforcement: I just ordere it, along with The Greatness of Saturn, and started reading it within the last week! They really get to the heart and soul of their subject. Some questions: They say you ultimately need to learn from a personal guru-not a ritvik:)-and master Sanskrit. What do you think? <<B.V.Raman and K.N.Rao have the greatest reputaions as far as predictive astrology goes and therefore their books are worth including but they can be hard to follow . Also one should be aware that B.V.Raman wrote books on some subjects where he wasn't fully expert (more to introduce the subject matter ) . As a pioneer he wanted to introduce a lot of material but there are many errors in his books .>> I just ordered a number of Raman's inexpensive paperbacks, so perhaps-when time permits-you can give this conference more of an overview so we can benefit from your experience. Also, could you give a short list of some classic works that should be read/consulted? Is there on book that includes an extensive glossary of terms? Some from a Pachangam(?) lists Gulika, Yama, Rahu and Mooleamnea with time periods opposite to them; than Ganesh, Muruga, Nataraja alongside a color or gem? Devaloka time? Bhuloka day? (I figured out the Nakshastras, for Moon and Asc., Tithis etc.) Para dukhe dukhi! YVFS< Jayo dasa
