Guest guest
> Dear Members > I thought also arial photography had revealed the submerged bridge between > South India and Sri Lanka . > YSYS I do not propose this as a conclusive answer but postulate the following: There is a chain of mountain--the Western and Eastern Ghats that have a terminus in South India as the level of the ocean rises and falls then the ridges of lower mountains get covered by water or are uncovered. So what looks like a bridge is actually a mountain ridge. Where I live in North Carolina there is the Blue Ridge Parkway, a road which runs along the top ridge of a line of mountains for several hundred miles. Such a land bridge (now submerged) is said to have existed between North America and Siberia at the Bering Straights. During the Ice Age the ocean was much shallower (I recall from my days with the BI in San Diego that it was shallower by several thousand feet) but as the ice melted the water rose and covered the passage. Just a thought.
