The testing for compatiblity in marriage is quite a complicted procedure

involving the evaluation of many factors which reflects the possible end

results ranging from two people who were made for each other to marriages

that were made in hell . The main points for evaluation are as follows :

(1) How suitable are each of the charts individually for marriage .

(2) How compatible are the moon nakshatras.This reflects general mental

compatibility. A table is given in Dr.Raman's muhurta book.

(3) How do the charts map onto each other. For example Jupiter and Venus

are planets of devotion and warmth and thus if one person's jupiter sits

on top or aspects the other's lagna, moon sign or sun sign this is

favourable for marriage.Conversely Mars is a planet of conflict and Saturn

a planet of coldness and detachment and thus if one persons Saturn sits atop

the other's lagna watch out.

(4) How compatible are the lagna lords .The lagna lords should be friendly

to each other and the best relationship is 5/9 i.e for an aries lagna a

leo lagna or sagittarius lagna is best .The worst relationship is 6/8 thus

for an aries lagna virgo is the worst because Mercury is inimical to Mars

and virgo is in the sixth position from aries .

These are general rules but in application I recommend that one consults an

experienced astrologer
