Someone, I believe it was an Antaryami dasa, suggested that Srila

Prabhupada must have been poisoned, as he died in Ketu dasa, which

supposedly concerns poison, and which would be in the 8th house of his

chart. I take exception to both of these propositions in the following

ways. Also, on the basis of the following astrological facts, I do not

believe the poisoning theory:

1.) If we calculate Prabhupada's chart according to the 3:30 PM birth

time, Calcutta, 9/1/1896, that was formerly given, that would give him a

Sagittarius ascendant, not a Capricorn one, which would be the case if Ketu

were in the 8th house. Look for yourselves, those of you who know

astrology, and see that Jupiter/Sun/Ketu in the 9th house (for Sag.

ascendant) is much more appropriate for the reigning high priest of the

Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya, than if those planets were in the 8th house.

The 8th is a dusthana, meaning that planets therein represent the

accumulation of sinful activities and their concomitant reactions. Is

Srila Prabhupada a sinful person? No, not hardly. Thus, the Sagittarius

ascendant is the correct one, which gives a powerful Raja-yoga involving

the three most important planets of spiritual elevation, namely Jupiter,

Sun, and Ketu, all in the house of great dharma and spiritual achievements,

i.e. the ninth.

2.) If you want an example of a sinful person, posing as a spiritualist,

who had five planets in the 8th house, look at the chart of Rajneesh, one

of the most reprehensible bogus "gurus" of the 20th century. Does anybody

out there think that Prabhupada should have a similar chart as that of

Rajneesh? Thank you, I think the answer is obvious. Thus, at least for

this conversation, lets take the Sagittarius ascendant, and the 9th house

placement of powerful planets, as the real chart for Srila Prabhupada.

3.) Rahu, not Ketu, is the significator of poisons. Ketu is

"Moksha-karaka", the significator of liberation, not "visa-karaka", that of

poisons, which is the pre-eminent position occupied by Rahu. Further, Ketu

placed in a good house (the 5th or 9th, 9th house in Prabhupada's case),

and especially conjoined with auspicious planets: ninth house ruler, Sun,

and Jupiter, all create yogas for moksha, or liberation. The fact that he

died (or passed away) under such influences, shows immediate moksha, and

his having left the world in a manner respecting the great spiritual

achievements that he had accrued in his lifetime. Ketu conjoined with

Jupiter DOES NOT suggest poisoning. Look closely......

4.) He passed away during the Ketu dasa, sub-period of Mercury. Now,

Mercury rules the 7th house, a planet capable of issuing death, according

to the rules of astrological longevity. The manner of death, or events

leading up to it, are shown by the rulers of the 22nd Drekkana, and the

64th Navamsa, both of whom are Jupiter in his case. Jupiter with Ketu,

suggests a clear, unobstructed path out of this incarnation, and in full

consciousness as well. Jupiter ruling these portions of the horoscope

connected to longevity suggests a natural death. Secondly, the ascendant

(self), and 7th house (other people) were under the benefic influences of

the Moon and Jupiter respectively at the time of death, thus indicating

that he was in auspicious company and loved, and very much ready for the

process of transition.

5.) Rahu, which can and does poison, if other planetary factors concur,

in his birth chart occupies the sign of Aquarius, whose ruler Saturn, is

exalted and in the 11th house. Its positioning in the 3rd house means

that his enemies were easily identified and defeated throughout the course

of a lifetime, as well as toward the end of life. There is no indication

of secret enemies conspiring to kill him that he did know about, or that he

could not prevent or defeat. Jupiter aspecting Rahu from the 9th house

shows that, even if he was not aware of a death conspiracy against him, he

would come to know it by the grace of Krsna and his own guru. The latter

two would protect him in either case.

Rahu in the 3rd house protects the manner of death; it does not harm it.

Rahu is also under the auspicious aspect of benefic Jupiter, all meaning

that the lower vibrations of Rahu, ordinarily indicating reconciliation of

karmic transgressions, was entirely auspicious for his chart, meaning that

he had no misgivings, either in the prior lives, or in the current one,

which would dispose him to suffering the darker side of Rahu, which can

include poisoning, hanging, death by murder or assassination, etc.

Further, Jupiter at the time of death was in a powerful location, and

making a full aspect to Rahu, in the same manner as it does in the birth

chart. Jupiter also aspected Saturn powerfully at the time of death, who

is the sign ruler of Rahu, and who is in his exaltation also. Transiting

Saturn at the time of death, who was in Leo, was influenced strongly by the

natal Jupiter. When natal and transiting vibrations of Jupiter all aspect

Rahu and Saturn, and if these influences are current at the time of death,

then one is pure and sinless, and passes in a manner befitting a great

personality.

All of this means, prabhus, that from an astrological point of view,

poisoning as the means of death, is out of the question. No, on the above

basis, I do not buy the poisoning, murder conspiracy idea. In fact, the

above example of Rajneesh who had much 8th house influence, not 9th house,

like that of Prabhupada, was said to have been poisoned as the means of his

death, much befitting a person who misrepresented dharma as a way of life!

Do any of you think that Prabhupada has a similar destiny to that of

Rajneesh? If not (the obvious answer), then give up this poisoning

conspiracy theory! It is simply incongruent with Prabhupada's horoscope.

I can go on and on about various astrological factors supporting this

conclusion, but I think the above will suffice. If any of you would like a

second opinion beyond mine, there is an expert Jyotishi who is very learned

in Vedic astrology, whose opinion you may want to ask. His contact

information is as follows:

With this, I invite any continuing conversation, especially as related to

the horoscope of Srila Prabhupada.
