Guest guest
Dear all My understanding is that viewing eclipses is inauspicious . Viewing a solar eclipse can cause eye damage or even blindness and as Jayatirtha Prabhu mentioned viewing eclipses can have detrimental effects on a mother's foetus.(He also mentioned he had first hand experience of this) . Seeing certain things is just out and out inauspicious .One example that comes to mind is seeing a naked person(even one of the same sex) . Hence Nalukuvera and Mamigriva were cursed by Narada Muni for failing to cover themselves in his presence . In Vedic culture one changes one's clothes without exposing one's naked body to others unlike modern Western change rooms. So I would recommend not seeing the eclipse at all even on television and even if it is a once in a lifetime opportunty . Just chant Hare Krishna for it's duration. Warm Regards Yadu Srestha
