Dear Luis

The rasi chart is given greatest importance by most Vedic astrologers

although a small minority give preference to the Navamsa chart and a

minority may give preference to the Chandra chart in some situations .

In the case where the rasi chart is considered paramount usually the

chandra chart is considered to either reinforce or modify what is picked up

in the rasi chart .So if Jupiter is seen to be strong in the rasi chart and

Candra chart then the astrologer is assured of it's strength .

The Navamsa chart is usually considered the second most important chart and

it has many functions .Like the Chandra chart it is used to reinforce or

modify the strength of planets as seen in the rasi chart . It is thought to

describe a person's ability in marriage and relationships generally. It is

used some times to ascertain latent strengths and weaknesses of persons .For

example if Mercury is average in birth chart but strong in Navamsa it may

indicate someone whose intelligence grows over their lifetime. The strength

or weakness of a planet in Navamsa will improve or weaken the end period of

a maha dasha or bhukti .

Also a planet which is in the same Navamsa as Rasi (Vargottama) is said to

be strong unless it is debilitated . This is not an exhaustive list .So

Navamsa charts are very important and quite essential to Vedic astrology.
