Bhadra Purnima as mentioned in the above Bhagavatam verse occurs not on

August 26, but one month later on September 25. It corresponds to the

Purnima in the Gaudiya-Vaisnava month of Hrsikesa. It's a festive day too -

Sri Visvarupa Mahotsava. To inspire Bhagavatam distributors - it's also the

day that Srila Prabhupada took sannyasa!

There is a little problem though with the particular SB purport quoted

above. Firstly, the Sun's exaltation is in the sign of Aries, not Leo (which

he rules). Secondly, the Sun will not necessarily be in Leo during Bhadra

Purnima.

Over the last four years, only once (1997) the Sun was present in Leo on

Bhadra Purnima. This year the Sun will again be in Virgo on Bhadra Purnima,

having left his sign of Leo one week earlier.

Lastly, the past reference given - 18SEP97 - also corresponds to Bhadra

masa. But not Purnima tithi. For most places, Purnima would have been on

16SEP97 and the next day our Gaudiya-Vaisnava masa of Hrsikesa changes to

Padmanabha masa Krsna paksa (still part of Bhadra masa).
