Guest guest
>They are they key to clearing up Vrndavan! and make a profit at the same >time! This is a reference taken from the Cow conference regarding fertility in Vrndavan. If for example we were to have kept all the cows we had bred and looked after them till they died....a lot of questions arise: 1. Where would we have put them? 2. How would we have fed them? 3. What would we have done with all the dung? 4. What would happen to all the carcases of the naturally died aniamls? At present there are a large number of cows in our Vrndavana goshala, the dung, when I was there was all being given away in return for simply clearing it up. There was also a vary large pile of it in one corner of the immediate goshala land, but it had apparently been there for ages and it looked as though no one wanted any more of it taking up space. It had dried out and become practically useless. I mentioned this product, 'found lying in bags by the Yamuna', in my book. I added 'that it had been abandoned in the hopeless attempt at cultivation.....' In answer to nos.1-3 If we had the land on which to keep all these different generations of animals. what then would we have used this land for? To presumably grow fodder for them in a rotation system. To effect this their dung would have had to have been utilized. If this had been done the cows would have been fed organic fodder. And in a rotation system fruits and vegetables would have been produced, also of an organic nature. This topic coming up on the Cow Conference is palindromic of our (Indian) goshalas. And indeed is I feel the reason we don't have wholesome organic food to offer our Deities and subsequently our Gurus, Sannyasis and devotees. And in turn is, I feel the reason, why so many of us are ill. Why only today I heard that His Holiness Radhanatha Swami won't be visiting us in March this year, in the UK. Another one ill!! This is disasterous. Some of you may have theories about gurus taking many disciples becoming ill due to taking their disciples sinful reactions. But previously do we have any record of so many gurus becoming so ill at such young ages as ours? This is a question. We accept the conditions we find ourselves in today because that is the way we are. We don't have any solutions so we just accept the extremely bad bargain of ill health and subsequently an early death. All in all if we didn't have any solutions I could then accept the statement made to me by one of our swamis in India who said to me in this connection: "We are all going to die of poisoning anyway, so let's chant Hare Krsna!" I personally do not agree. I feel sure this was not Srila Prabhupada's mood either. If we are to create 'the golden age' or the conditions of Satya Yuga then we have to find solutions. Original sotutions, not simply preach to people the above statement. We must bear in mind here that syntheic fertilizers and pesticides are in fact poisons to different forms of life and we are ingesting the residues and effects of these into our systems. And in organic terms they are completely unacceptible. Health and consciousness are connected. We always say that Bhagavad Gita says 'You are what you eat'. So if this be true here's another statement by one of the great agriculturists of our time, or should I say Srila Prabhupada's time, Sir Albert Howard: "Artificial manures lead inevitably to artificial nutrition, artificial food, artificial animals, and finally to artificial men and women." (An Agricultural Testament, 1940.) This statement actually made Sridhara Maharaja laugh when I quoted this to him in India...and it will I think explain a lot of our misdemeanors in all different walks of life. To make things even juicier here I will quote and end with a further passage by an alternative author and practitioner of natural medicine, W.Armstrong, albeit this passage may refer to another level of management, in the karmi world, than ISKCON. Still he finds it relevant to mention in connection with health and nutrition: "Those men that foment or are directly responsible for wars are not normal and healthy human beings. Julius Caesar was an epileptic, Napoleon died of cancer of the stomach, and Hitler presents a neurosthenic of the most pronounced type. Geobbels with his club foot, may be regarded as a degenerate, and the obese Goring at one time was a drug addict. Mussolini was another diseased type, and suffered from some chronic internal trouble for which the doctors dared not operate. As for the late Kaiser Wilhelm, he was also abnormal and was born with a physical deformity. It is only very advanced souls who can exhibit mental balance in spite of physical disabilities; and such souls are comparatively few and far between." It is also concluded in my research that real health comes from proper feeding over a couple of generations. This is also confirmed in my own experience. There maybe an element of luck or whatever in what I am about to tell you but my Father and Mother were farmers all thier lives. They lived the outdoor life. They grew all or much of their own vegetables. We grew up on fresh cows milk. And although they we not advocators of brown flour I found about 5 or so years ago that I could no longer eat White bread.
