We have some translated moon's calendar from Germany, but I would like to know vedic view point on that subject, because I guess it wouldn't be so complex, and of course it will be more precise then western one. Thanky You for Your efforts, Your servant, Unmadi das
Guest guest
Also of possible interest is *Planetary Planting* by Louise Riotte. I bought this book many years ago, and I see that it is now coming back into print, so many people must have found that it was useful. It is based on western astrology, not eastern, but I found that it works pretty well. Planetary Planting : A Guide to Organic Gardening by the Signs of the Zodiac by Louise Riotte List Price: $16.95 Paperback Reprint edition (December 1998) Storey Books; ISBN: 1580170668 ----------------- I think Storey Books is in either Vermont or Connecticut. As I remember it, the principles that she gives are very simple. *For top growth, plant when the moon is waxing. *For stronger root growth (e.g., carrots, beets, potatoes, etc.) plant after the full moon, when the moon is waning * In general, best to plant during the earth/water signs of the moon -- Pisces, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn *One exception is Libra -- both Libra and Virgo are good for planting flowers *She says that onions and garlic can be planted when the moon is in saggitarius, but I don't think that would be of too much interest -- except for gardeners who find onions and garlic to be valuable pest-repellents in their garden There is a little more too it than this, but these are the principles. So, you may find this book helpful if you cannot find the vedic astrology titles you are looking for. One point of philosophy that I got from her was the importance of planting when the moon is in a negative (earth/water) sign. When I started to follow this practice, I sometimes would plant or transplant things in the garden, even during a rainstorm. Several times I noticed, especially when there were long periods of rain lasting a week or more that my plants did much better than those of neighbors who had waited until the stormy days were over -- because by then the moon was in a fire sign and the full moon had passed. your servant, Hare Krsna dasi "COM: Unmadi (das) HKS (Lika - HR)" wrote: > [Text 2334604 from COM] > > > Dear Unmadi prabhu, > > > > There is an almanac printed in Germany and probably other countries on the > > subject of planting according to the moons influence.
