Guest guest
IEC LTD Environmental Consultants organic agricultural and horticultural research and development Environmental Pollution Control specialists in dry composting technology for disposal of sewage & organic wastes WATER CONSERVATION Tailor Made Composting System for Bhaktivedanta Manor incorporating MeagLOO 2000 Dear Bhakta Terry (head of maintenance) This is a proposal that you can make to the temple council regarding the installation of sustainable toilets for Bhaktivedanta Manor which can work in conjunction with a composting system for all the organic waste produced by the Manor departments. Even if you do not wish to compost all the waste from all departments still the toilet waste either from all the festival or from full time permanent use of the toilets can be easily disposed of with the addition of a small proportion of the kitchen and garden waste. As I am very busy right now with Cornwall and as this is my local Temple I will not be making a consultancy fee for the design of this service. To make things simple and quick enough for Janmasthami this year I propose that Terry designs, costs and constructs the housings for the toilets when you have all agreed 1. how many toilets you want, male and female, 2. how much you want to spend on them (finish etc) 3. in how many housings you want them 4. where you want to locate them Looking around the grounds the majority could well be permanently situated along the field adjoining the Dell. This location is particularly suitable, as there is a convenient drop in the level of this field to the Dell. This reduces the cost of the housings and helps towards the smoother running of the system. If the Dell (orchard) were kept cut and presentable it would be a nice walk to reach these toilets. A location for another pair (male & female) could be in the woods near the stone bridge, where there is good access for a run to any composting area. When these four questions have been answered (in writing) I can supply you with a price for the units for the quantity you require and the subsequent related equipment that I am importing from Hong Kong to make cheaper. The containerised and mobilised system holds 200 litres before being exchanged for a new one. I can supply all necessary related fittings well in time for Janmasthami. You will be able to save the rental of your chemical toilets every year (£3,000 for Janmasthami? + saving on flushing water in and related sewage charges going out) and for the running of sustainable toilets you will require at the Manor, ONE man can easily maintain and compost for all your events and indeed for the entire system that could be used permanently by all the devotees if need be, when he is trained up. I will be charging a small fee for this training as our event in Cornwall will be over at the end of August. This fee will be £600 for the period of the two days festival. Half this fee will go to Terry or the man who is to be trained up to oversee the project. The nature of these toilets is that after a festival is over and the bulk of the material is taken away for composting, the toilets can be left in working order the year round, only needing to be serviced by the ONE man periodically. There will be no smell or fly problems at any time. This year there will not be time to install the 'DRY FLUSH' system that I am developing so medium (which includes the infusion of micro-organisms) would have to added by the user each time. The application of a medium is standard practise so far, in the use of compost toilets, and we will be doing this in Cornwall this summer. The 'DRY FLUSH' system will be completed later in the year and can be added to your existing system without any difficulty as I will be working with Terry on the initial design of the housing units should you wish to install such a development. All aspects of the project fall within the guidelines of the UK Environment Agency and Environmental Health regulations - see enclosed paper MegaLOO 2000. If a suitable permanent site for the composting can be determined then all your kitchen refuse and prasadam refuse, waste paper, cardboard, weeds from gardens, flower remnants and sweepings can go to this compost. However if you wish to add ALL these items a little more labour will be required for the job, rather than burning. The end result in a 90 day turnround is a saleable/usable product which means you do not have to worry about any other organic fertiliser to turn the farm fully organic Hoping we can be of service to you and the Vaisnavas, Your servant, Radha Krsna das. enclosed paper hand out (already sent to UNHCR and UNICEF and other Aid agencies) MegaLOO 2000 The newly developed MegaLOO 2000 is the cheapest and fastest turnround sustainable compost toilet system in the world. There are two models 1. Domestic (for regular households) and 2. Commercial (with a 100 person capacity). The system has been tried tested and developed in India. There has also been a one year trial in an English hospital. Both trials met with full approval. This system operates on the prolific generation of specific micro-organisms which assist in the breaking down of organic matter. This science is at the forefront of modern technology in agricultural development. The initial application of these micro-organisms eliminate the odorous smell of human waste in a number of days. The unique (patented) liquid/solid separator then renders both components containerised for further treatment. No chemicals are added at any stage and by following a simple management technique a certain group of non-symbiotic nitrogen fixing organisms are enabled to operate at full capacity. There is no ground water pollution or run off at any stage of the operation irrespective of bulk. The end product is a finely dividable highly nitrogenous fertiliser attained in 60-90 days depending on climatic conditions. It is completely safe to grow crops of any description on this material and a similar product 'Terra Compost' has sold 3,000 tons through 170 outlets in the last year in the U.K. All trials have been found to be 100% successful and the running of the system is in compliance with the U.K. Environment Agency. The running of the apparatus also falls within the stipulations of U.K. Environmental Health regulations. This product is designed specifically with the agricultural potential in mind and is especially useful in areas of high density displaced populations that need to grow an urgent food source. We, as consultants give full training and operating instructions for use of the equipment and also for the growing of food crops. Remember we can be growing food crops within 60 - 90 days depending on climatic conditions.
