It does work. Many devotees do this in Mayapur and they successfully avoid arsenic poisoning from the constantly moving ground water found in wells. Collect water from Mother Ganga, sit in any kind of pot for four days and tip out from top only leaving sediment in bottom. The water is completely safe to drink. If you let it stand for 10 days then apparently even the heavey metals are gone. There is no need to filter it. Thames Water International did a survey of water found at the Ganga Delta, which is at the end of the river, after everything has been thrown into it all the way from its source. On analysis it was found to be completely pure.
