Guest guest
This year my whole garden was devoted to finding a solution to the slug and snail problem. Here in England in gardens surrounded by hedges it's a real problem. The best thing was in fact copper as Carol has said, but you need to have enough of it such as a tape stuck onto a strip of wood. I caught a glimpse of a snail going up over the edge of a flower pot on television and there were two strips of metal, one copper and I couldn't quite catch what the other was, but the snail just kept going back when the circuit was made by the snail and it had to go back. However the HDRA sell a copper strip roll which you can stick onto wood. Beer is good but it has to be fermented and then goes off vinegar kills them grease barrier is useless razor blade barrier is useless - they go straight over, dangerous razor blade arched barrier to complicated. mesh arch shaped fence, from Akrura, Germany, with sharp edge is not bad, but the corners are difficult to make. putting fresh veg peelings is good but you are forever collecting little critters. Ducks on a larger scale sounds practical Copper strip on a smaller scale.
