Guest guest
Haribol to all the easiest method of removing contaminated water is to run all human and animal waist through a bio gas digester there by getting two for the price of one usage. You can get methane gas to cook or heat your homes or run natural gas generators. You get rid of the flies stink and bacteria and you end up with some really nifty compost all in three or so months. The Indian minister of bio gas plants came to Mayapur and looked the entire community over and said it could be done fairly easily and was really excited we were interested. He said his ministry had to offered to instal a huge biogas compositor when the Holy Dam first was built the offer was refused then. But sense it was Mayapur and could have been good for the environment and the local people it was ignored. In Mayapur Change is the emery, especially if it is good for the environment. The minister was really excited when we told him we wanted to use human manure specifically to get rid of the horrifying practice of pumping out the holding tanks behind each building out on the grass where every one sits, eats and naps. Why there hasn't been a major out break of polio or cholera or God knows what is a true miracle of Krishna's Mercy. Carol

The reason I have gone down the path I have taken is I think because Prabhupada said about using castor plant for lighting, cow dung for cooking and human effluent for manure. That's about it. But anything would be better than what you talk about here. Biggest cause of spreading disease, is waterborne sewage....... They wouldn't get the money up front. I understand that they, the ministry, was willing to pay all costs for a cow dung project fifteen or twenty years ago for the temple and they would pay quite a bit to get a human dung project going to day but ..... well, Mayapur would chew off its own arm to prevent a project helpful to the town from occurring it seems to me. I was so excited to help them set up and every body just smiled and said no it won't happen here. You aren't the first and you won't be the last but nothing will happen. Well, I am disheartened to say they were correct. So, if it is to be it must start with me. So I will give reports on my progress on this com and hopefully encourage others to follow suit. We are entering a period of global warming and each year for the past three years that the green house effect has been "visible" to laymen. Globally the temp has gone up three degrees in three years One-fourth of the USA is experiencing drought conditions. our great lakes have dropped three feet in the last three years and it will just get worse. I have been telling every body that will listen that the time to get farm land is now and to get a good well and do every thing they can to protect it. I fear soon, owning a farm and good well will be a very wise move for any body who has one. Those of us who have nothing I suggest getting to be friends with a farmer and offer to help out to learn hands on so you may have some farming experience and have a valuable trade if the poop hits the fan. I would be hard pressed to accept beggars with no experience. I would, probably, but I really don't have the resources to house and feed a bunch of devotees with no useful skills. So those of you who want to get a farm get experience from a farm and be ready. Chance favors the prepared. Or as an old military buddy used to say God fights on the side of the heaviest artillery. At this time there are eighty countries who are experiencing serious droughts right now. Three years of drought are considered a precursor to war. We, in my area haven't had any measurable rain in going on nine months. We are on a water alert if we don't volunteer to conserve water the city will cut back on the water. We are the largest city in the world living exclusively off well water. We have sucked our aquifer down to the bottom fifth. We are already closer to sucking mud than any body can even guess and still the local people can't understand what the fuss is all about. We are building more and more golf courses to add to the thirty or forty we already have. They really can't conceive of a time when they turn on the tap and no water will flow out, but if the drought continues that is a very real possibility. I had a a small hydroponics project going. I was very proud of the success I was having. Well, last week the weather hit F 108 (41C) for the entire week with four percent humidity and the desert animals headed towards water, Any water. I really don't blame them. But I had fifty tomatoes on the five plants I had and they were huge. My carrots and beans were just wiped out. I think I will have to enclose my hydroponics area to keep the critters out. I caught three coyotes stealing my cantaloups they like the sweet and the moisture. This year is a bad crop year too hot too early no rain and no humidity to speak of. It is so dry that if we get a really heavy rain we will flood the ground is too dry. Well, so much for my problems. Pray for us all we will need it sooner than we think! Carol
