Infuriated over the misinformation being carried by the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in its textbooks, the intellectuals registered their protest in the strongest possible words and challenged the author of book for an open debate over this issue. Members of the Ved Prachar Mandal and Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya raised slogans such as ‘NCERT Murdabad Murdabad’, ‘Bhartiya Sanskriti Se Khelwad Karne Wale Gaddar Hain’, ‘Go Hamari Mata Hain and Mata Ka Apman Karne Wale Ko Phansi Do’. Principal of Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya Medha Devi claimed, “This wrong message is baseless as there was no such information that Aryans used to eat ‘cow-flesh’ in any ‘Vedic Granth’ of Indian culture. She alleged that it was a well-planned strategy to disseminate misinformation among the future generation of our country.” “Aryna is a collective noun of good practices and spreading misinformation through textbook is a nefarious design to defame our ancestors and rich Indian history”, she said, adding, “Such types of misinformation are dangerous for Indian culture.” Medha Devi and other intellectuals invited the authors of books (carrying text that Aryans used to eat cow-flesh and eggs) for an open debate ‘shashtrartha’ to assess the credibility of this ‘misinformation’ either in Delhi or Kashi (Varanasi). Dr. Santosh Ojha and Ashok Tripathi also criticised the NCERT for spreading wrong information.
