Guest guest
$2000 a cow. Yes that will do nicely. The basic running costs of the Bhaktivedanta Manor Cow Protection Project mean that a litre of milk would have to have a selling price of just over one pounds sterling to cover the basic running costs. In India a litre of milk sells for 12 rupees (well it did the last year in the Vrndavana Gosala. They have increased the price since then). A poor mans wage would be about 40 rupees. In other words a litre of milk would cost one quater of a persons daily wage. In the UK a poor mans wage would be 3.60 x 8 hours. In other words 28.8 pounds sterling. Taking the indian model the price of milk comparatively should be about 7 pounds sterling per litre. A farmer currently gets 0.20 pounds per litre. we are in a society were the price of food is completly under valued, especially milk. Devotees buy milk from the Gosala hear at 1 pound sterling per litre. The temple in priciple accept the price of 1 pound per litre and will graduallky pay that amount over the coming years. They are currently p[aying 0.60 pounds sterling per litre. ys syamasundara dasa Bhaktivedanta Manor
