Minimum Cow Protection Standards - Update?

Is it possible to update the Minimum Cow Protection Standards as they

appear on the ISCOWP website http://www.angelfire.com/co/iscowp/

 

I really find it very convenient just to log onto the website whenever I

need to quote the standards, but there are a number of small, but

important changes that should be made if at all possible:

 

 

Probably "proposed" should be taken off and something like "Endorsed by

the Ministry of Cow Protection and Agriculture and approved by ISKCON's

Governing Body Commission, March 1999" should be substituted.

 

At the same time, we should make sure that the most recent, up-dated

version is posted.

 

Also, all the standards should be made visible:

 

SECTION 1 COW CARE STANDARDS

I) Protection

II) Organization of Cow Care Facilities

III) Shelter

IV) Feeding

V) Milking

VI) Training Oxen

VII) Traveling and Preaching Programs

VIII) Use of Krsna's Properties

 

SECTION 2 BREEDING STANDARDS

IX) Requirements for Acquiring Cows

X) Selection of Breeding Stock

XI) Castration

XII) Insemination of Cows

 

SECTION 3 MANAGEMENT STANDARDS

XIII) Responsibility of Local Community

XIV) Local GBC Responsibility

XV) Investigation Team

 

But, still on my computer, I can only read up to Section 1, V Milking.

After that, everything is black. [i can block it all and paste it into

my wordprocessor, but I doubt that our GBC's will be willing to go

through that hassle.] So, it's important to correct this.

 

Also, for some reason, even though I have made a web bookmark, ISCOWP's

name does not show up in the bookmark, it's just blank.

 

Another thing is that you might want to do is to do a search for

"ISCOWP" on the web. I found several different connections, but they

didn't have the cow protections standards. Is is possible to

de-activate some older sites?

 

The other side of this is to do a search for "ISKCON" and make sure that

the different websites include a link to ISCOWP.

 

Also, Chaya and Balabhadra, is there anyway that you could add a line to

your e-mail sign-off -- something like

Finally, do you think it would be a good idea to put the cow evaluation

form on the website?

 

 

Actually, one more thing I was thinking of was asking Paramananda prabhu

if he would be willing for us to post *Ox Power - Ki Jaya! An Ox Power

Manual*. I have it on disk. As long as he keeps the copyright, I think

he might agree to let us do it. Is this something we would be

interested in? I could also scan Sadhana-siddhi's drawing of the

Ox-Yoke pattern if that would be useful. Anyway, let me know what you

think.
