Guest guest
Hate to throw a spanner in the works but from what I see, the Y2K scare has perhaps urged on those devotees already focused on self-sufficiency, but city temples (or devotees) are not taking it seriously (or just as some typical American fad). Perhaps they'll buy a couple DIY books or stock a little extra bhoga. If it goes bust, or is just a flicker of annoyance, it may well have the opposite effect of hardening the attitudes of most people, "I told you so", will be the theme of the day. This may well make post-y2k mainstream society (and devotees) much less receptive and much more complacent. As far as Carol's optimistic statement "...devotees are for the first time in twenty plus years actually planning to follow Prabhupada suggestion and prepare for the cites being destroyed and getting farms and becoming self sufficient", have you heard of any city temple (save is it Phoenix) actually buying farmland for Y2K or getting seriously prepared? One for all, and all for 2001, Nistula dasa Bangladesh PS: I was just looking through a 'Hindu Timeline' put out by the publishers of Hinduism Today - they certainly have no plans. Their prediction for 2094 reads, "India is most populous nation, Sanatan Dharma, finding new expressions through interactive electronic tools, guides humankind's future..." With so much invested in their large, hi-tech network of Macs & millions in trust fund investments, forget Y2K!
