Guest guest
I just learned that North American GBC meetings will be held this weekend in New Vrindavana. I am curious to know whether the Ministry of Cow Protection and Agriculture has been invited to make a presentation? Since Balabhadra and Chaya Prabhus are so close by, it would seem like an ideal opportunity to include them in at least part of the proceedings. I realize that there are probably many important issues to discuss, such as the pending gurukula lawsuit, funding for the Mayapur project, etc. Nevertheless, I hope the cows will not be sidelined, simply because they are not putting forth a lawsuit with their complaints. Furthermore, since the GBC should be visiting their farms, meeting with cowherds and preparing their reports for the July deadline, in seems that this would be the ideal time to go over any questions they might have on the forms they will be required to submit to the Ministry of Cow Protection and Agriculture. Certainly the schedule is tight, but even a thirty minute presentation by the Ministry of Cow Protection and Agriculture could well make the difference between life and death for certain cows, bulls or calves on Krsna's farms. your servant, Hare Krsna dasi
Guest guest
I am afraid the NV management, which is currently scheming to turn every meadow close to the temple into a subdivision, would probably be lobbying to keep them out. AGTSP. We are scheduled to make a presentation at the NV GBC meetings, which is the last day of the meetings. There will be more than the local GBC there but not all the Northern American GBC. We will provide a copy of the Standards and GBC report form for any GBC temple president of a farm. Gita Nagari: As far as North America Farms and GBC, we feel we are in good contact with t hem. Bhakti-tirtha Swami is co receivier of all Balabhadra's letters to Gita Nagari cowherds. The Gita Nagari Cow department sends us their meeting minutes. Balabhadra has worked with the younger devotees to bring about managerial changes to effect positive changes in their agricultural department. Bhakti-tirtha Swami was here a few weeks ago for lunch at which time we informed him of our ministry's representative (Ekadasi das) in S. Africa, his findings and recommended action. Bhakti-tirtha Swami gave him support. We also presented him with a copy of the standards and GBC report form to be filled out. Murari, New Talavan We are in touch with Bir Krishna das Goswami who is in charge of Murari Farm and Talavan. He has cooperated to help Murari take care of their cows and we will be seeing him personally this weekend, hopefully for prasadam at our place, where we can talk further and present him with a copy of the Standards and GBC report form. He has expressed his desire to assist us when possible. Rohita das is at New Talavan, keeping an eye on things. At New Vrndavana Balabhadra is working hard at organizing a Trust for the major cow land, so that it may not be used for any other development. This has been difficult work as Madhava Gosh has indicated. He has the GBC backing and most of the local management. Its not done yet. We had Radhanath Swami for lunch prsadam and discussed the issue, as we did with Bhakti-tirtha Swami when he came for lunch. Both are in agreement. We presented Radhanath Swami with a copy of the Standards and GBC report form. Balabhadra attends all cow department meetings and master plan meetings. The trend is to push for development for housing and often Balabhadra is a lone voice for the cows. The Trust is what he is working for as a way to preserve the major land for the cows. Radhanath Swami has asked us to make a compromise so that the opposing forces will not vote it down. Alachua Balabhadra will be meeting with Nanda dasi (temple president)to check how the cows are there. We think there are a few only. Potomac They have one cow and we are in touch wth the cowherd. Annuttama Prabhu (GBC of ISKCON Communications) is scheduled to come here for lunch on Saturday at which time we will discuss. Balabhadra feels that if it were an international conference we should be there since we are not having contact as the above with many foreign Farms. Once again, everyone should keep in mind this is a slow process of getting the GBC and temple presidents to be aware of their responsibilities towards the cows. Our Ministry is not funded, we have just recently gotten our own farm which was not in working order and Balabhadra works a night job. We are trying to work the Ministry's work into our lives and still maintain ourselves. Your servant, Chayadevi

I wish you had actual funding from ISKCON. We should push for that for next year. Hope the presentation proves to be productive. And bless you both for all your hard work maintaining the ministry. your servant, Hare Krsna dasi
