We don't have a GBC here who comes to our Zone very often. Can someone who

lives in this country get a copy?

Is your farm an ISKCON project or not? If it is an ISKCON project, you now

have a GBC who visits your farm 4 times a year -- as per their agreement with

the minimum cow protection standards.

Since the first set of farm reports from the GBCs are due by July 30, the GBC

should visit your farm within the next month and a half -- if it is an official

ISKCON farm.

wishful thimking? or simply hopeagainsthope- let's just wait'n c howmany

gbcs actually turn in a report or even visit the farms (once in a year!),

voting is as easy as raising a finger, not so truck'n it out to the

countryside...i'd lay wages (if we could) no one's gonna to visit our farm

4xs, and we've got three gbcs...

Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I understand your view. This is why we made allowance for someone to go on

their behalf, a monitor. Now if three GBC can not appoint a monitor or one of

them go then that is indeed bad. If that is the case then we need to think of

another means to see if the farms are up to the standard and some way to get

more participation on their part. Also to see if farms are in the same mode as

the GBC - can't be bothered. By the way, who are your GBC there in Pundarik

Dham?

yes, perhaps a 'monitor' will work - and perhaps i'm being overly cynical,

but it's at least spawned by years of experience. and yes, we're an

'official' iskcon (or diety) owned property. once upon a time...there was

all this 'kshetra' business and so many 'monitors' appointed and of course

reams of forms (i've heard nothing of it after receiving a huge parcel of

them) - oh so many years ago. even if the present monitors(?) do send in a

few sparsely filled-in quarterly reports, i still feel it'll (what's the

word) 'fizzle out' quickly enough - i believe that in the end, it'll be up

to the actual caretakers to take a real interest & responsiblilty for

reporting.they'll need plenty of encouragement (and reminders). i mean how

many temples even keep up with their book points? iskcon is a real big bull

to harness...

my gbcs? well jayapataka swami (1/0), prabhavisnu swami (1/8) and

bhakticharu swami (0/0), the parenthesis indicate the number of

visits/letters in the previous 24 months.oh, and our regional secretary,

mahavisnu swami, popped in for a day last month after about 4/5 years (to

get some pics for his pick).are many rural communities similarly swamped

with gbcs eager to support and encourage cow/vad culture as pundarik dham

is? i'm interested- how many gbcs have visited new talavan recently?

Jayapataka Svami, was coming 2x per year, last year came once (The GBC body

had requested he decrease his visits), he is scheduled here in 3 weeks (but is

no longer GBC here).

Bir Krishna das Goswami, has come once a year for the last 3 years, not at

regular intervals. (is now our sole GBC).

Hrdayananda dasa Goswami was schedule to come, but the ritvik thing has

deverted him.

Bhakti Tirtha, comes about every two or three years.

Trivikrama, was coming every few years - but some people have requested he not

come (they can't handle his 'sadhu style' of speach, he doesn't sugar coat it

enough, it embasses them).

They all make a 'pilgrimage to Touchstone (our business arm), only Jayapataka

Swami has actually gone out walking in the field asking about different

things.

Sannyasis other than these are seen maybe one or two over a ten year peroid.

i find this a big problem in that as the gbc/sanyasins are not at all into

cow culture and varnashram at all (at least all the ones ever visiting

here), their disciples or the younger devotees feel its just some weird

'trip' i'm into and prefer to stay in the cities and 'preach', or whatever.

There are many young devotees who are interested in self sufficiency and cow

culture - there is hope yet, many of the older devotees are of the mentality

you mentioned with strong emphasis on the whatever more commonly called

dovetailed. This gives us a wide preaching field, but we have to over come the

addiction to their sense grad and encourage simplicity and that small is

beautiful. If it is small family thing and done nicely than that is best. Then

it meets simple living and high thinking, simple no room for entanglement then

thereis time for high thinking.

Yes, Bhaktivedanta Manor is an ISKCON project and thanks for the info about

a GBC who will visit us 4 times a year.

The pressure may be unbearable -- but now it's the law: ISKCON law 507. It may

be tough, but they will find that Krsna bestows special blessings on those who

help protect His cows.

In other words, it's a big job -- but there's a big payoff, too.
