Guest guest
Got this from Hanumatpresaka Swami, with whom I have had dealings with. Basically, he seems quite convinced that if a method is used for a true economy of cow protection then it is viable. Still, he favours a sociological aspect, but with the understanding of economic viability behind it. He's a bit whacky at times, but then aren't many of them? Us? ISKCON-2 Rural Development (ISKCON-2 (AT) AnjanaSuta (DOT) Com> (rev. 25 Aug 01) Our opinion is that the current aim of ISKCON should be to develop our rural comunities - "Read your books, heard your music, seen your churches, ate your food, but when are we gonna see you make a life out of it?!" Book distribution, development of brahminical culture is the best way to develop cow protection. Real wealth is God, land and cows. Do you have these things? Help us with out project in Santa Cruz. Seen a lot of communities. Sarangati in Canada is a good example. Mark Chatburn is promoting no-kill, milk production business. Stable herd is 20 cows - 10 female, 3 milkers, 3 juvenile, 3 retired. <markjon11 .> We're looking for land for our 40 year (2 generation) project: 1. One hour from an Urban Base. 2. Hilly land so that its not useful for Industrial Farming. 3. Variety of parcels available. ISKCON gets 10 acres for school, temple etc. Others buy (single or in groups) what they want. 4. Cultural self-sufficience is more important than technical or economic self-sufficiency. Its a "rural project" before its a "farm project". Gurukula, music, theater. Don't: 1. Create a "Hare Krsna" Island. Preach to and get to know your neighbors right away. 2. (Almost) all big, centrally owned and planned ISKCON projects have failed. Russia failed. 3. Be too far from the city. We have to start on the weekends and increase our social relations over years (if we have that long). "You must live in the country and show people how you can be a cultured gentleman", Srila Prabhupada. -Saranagati (Canada). -New Giridharidesa (Ecuador, Cuenca & Project on the beach). -Bhakti-lata puri (Argentina, BsAs). -Mantra-dvipa (Peru, Satipo) Our ASA would like to have a school for teenage boys: Develop our own movie studios, curriculum in Investigative Journalism. We want a three story tree house (1=Reception, 2=Office, 3=Ashrama). Three paces of land to our arms width. Access to public transport and sanyasis bath etc. Then from there we could have a ASA Library Mobile and do mini-festivals from library to library and invite people to Rural Community ... Nava Markendeya-Sarastata Ashrama? Make a plan! Dream of land (for Krsna). A port for sail-boats that come from Peru.
