Guest guest
Dear Mark and prabhus, PAMHO. AGTSP. > Prior to the three pillars is needed a general > holistic vision, this is often accompanied with a > brief on-going, iterative mission statement and action > plans. The entry that Syamsundara prabhu has entered is along these lines. I do agree that there has to some financial sustenance from the land. However I don't think it necessary to be the same that one would get as a middle class person $30,000 etc. By living on the land you save a lot of money that if you weren't is necessary to live. Your food bill becomes extremely reduced. Since your life doesn't just exist in your house, you don't need to go "out" to enjoy. You enjoy by doing things on your land, you have more to do around your house. Most people who don't live on the land must go find recreation and have to pay for it. Of course, not everyone will want the change in lifestyle but for thise who do (and maybe those who will be forced to by current events) there should be and must be some financial result or opportunity. I am basically speeking from my own experience. This is not the ideal but it is a reality. I guess we are working now on the holistic vision. We don't have to say right now how they would acquire money but that some income plans will be presented. There really are quite a few ways but almost everything takes an intial money investment. But if there is a good plan for an invester to look at, I believe there will be investors. Actually, I just rermembered that a wealthy devotee told me that for him to invest he had to see a plan that was financially viable, that the devotees should obtain some money from the land since he did not want to be supporting them the rest of his life. Ox power is the ideal, but there are ways like incense from the cow dung, herbal products from which the proceeds could support ox-power to get it at least established before it starts saving the devotees money in the form of alternative energy. Not necessarily that ox-power makes money but that it saves money. Different places, different approaches are possible. But ox-power must be part of the equation some way or another or we will have a big problem and a financial deficit. These are also just some thoughts. I agree also, there are so many ways to make money from the land. Here at New Vrajamandala we have a plan to create a 'New Vrajamandala' label. Very attractive, and each of our products will have a story about the community. It's called 'value added' marketing. You are not just buying the product, but a feeling of good will that you are helping a positive project. This way Individual landholders can produce a small amount of products, and sell them under the same banner, creating a good identity for the project.
