Guest guest
haribol prabhus pamho agtsp Just on the following: My input: "Project Vision: - To maintain, develop and reinvigorate in a sustainable manner Krsna Conscious rural communities for the purpose of realising Srila Prabhupada's mission." We do need to have a vision, and it has to be collective, so we should consider this. "Project Mission Statement 1 - To have in place by the end of year 2001 a Sustainable Development Audit for every existing and new KC rural farm community throughout the world." I have been dramatically out of circulation for a while, but don't think that this can be realised here and I'm not sure everywhere else. To maintain the ethos of what you propose, we need to look at this also. To develop an audit with decent statistical, as well as qualative input would itself need to be teased out so maybe then the timing wouldn't work. Also we would need to think realistically about farms with major problems, how do we get an overall balanced view between devotee realisation of the need for sustainable ruralcommunities, and the real life picture. It must be acurate to be potent. I think when we get to 'mission statements' and 'action plans' we need to adopt the other development formula of setting SMART objectives -Sustainable - so development is continuous and doesn't die off somewhere because we've overstepped ourselves or blown it, Measurable - are we as inclusive as we should be, what level of realisation is gained in the audit, what statistical information can we gleen to bring this to the next stage, are we setting monitoring and evaluation procedures in place to measure our progress, Achieveable - are we going to get this done by the said dates, are we going to lose people or momentum, is this the right target to get to our objective, is it a manageable size step (either too big, too small) towards our overall goal, R can be Relevant or Realistic take your pick they speak for themselves and Timed - but properly. We need to do something but timing is crucial in many ways, too much and it becomes waffle, too little and it's a locomotive out of control steaming ahead while the passengers are falling off. I accept that I may have missed some of the discussion but then I've heard it for over twenty years, and I'd rather proceed carefully at a steady pace, especially as I do want to bring devotees along with us and that's why I choose to be in a devotee community. Steady pace does not necessarily mean slow, but just as thorough as we can possibly be.So maybe we can look at developing some of these suggestions with an eye on the reality of needing to be able to sell this 'plan' in a rational and cohesive way to ourselves and other devotees. Presenting it to the general mass of ISKCON does need support and best to bring it along with you rather than have to drag it kicking and screaming in at the end. "Project Mission Statement 2 - To have in place by the end of year 2002 a Sustainable Development Action Plan for every existing and new KC rural farm community throughout the world." Is this to become ISKCON desired standard, desired progression or future law? This will have a real bearing as to produce a plan, or working template or model means that it has to be workable in ISKCON irrespective of local politics and circumstances. This needs considerable thought but the timeframe is more realistic. "Project Action Plan 1 - to realise the Project Vision and Mission Statement 1 via an environmental, sociological and economic audit of all KC rural farm communities. (See details)." "Project Action Plan 2 - to realise the Project Vision and Mission Statement 2 via location-specific project initiatives. (See details)." Can only be fully tackled when we are definate about steps 1 & 2 then we need to set the order, detail level etc. So lets get the first too settled then look at the action plans relevant to them.
