Guest guest
Below is what I have constructed so far as the body of the RDP. I am still working on the structure before Mission Statements can be brought forth. Comments? To reinvigorate ISKCON farm communities in accordance with the wishes of His Divine Grace.A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, The ISKCON Ministry of Cow Protection and Agriculture presents a Rural Development Plan to establish sustainable principles and practices of land use which encourage participation in lifetime-protected cow-based agriculture giving lifestyle and tenure security to the participants. The ISKCON Rural Development Plan is to follow along the lines of a mainstream Sustainability Development Plan. Sustainability development plans are used across the range of civil society - in Governments, Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and in Business. They have a logical structure that is easy to follow and that many devotees will be familiar with from working life. They are easy to translate from a solely ISKCON concern into a more secular dimension should people choose to. The structure of the ISKCON Rural Development Plan as a Sustainable Development Plan is to be seen as follows: It is to be Sustainable, therefore it must balance environmental, social and economic land-use issues as part of the spirtual instructions outlined by Srila Prabhupada; It is to follow a Development process delianating the starting position we are in - A, the end result we want to see - B, and the means to get from A to B; It is a Plan to outline a coherent and consice Vision backed up with timely and practicable Mision Statements with their subsequent detailed Action Plans. Project Vision: The Vision is to see ISKCON farms managed according to established sustainable principles and practices of land use which encourage participation in lifetime-protected cow-based agriculture giving lifestyle and tenure security to the participants. Guest guest
This sounds good to me, except to omit the tenure word. I think it is to the point and simple. If you are going to work on it more, try not to add a lot of words, just finer tune. In fact I could go with it as it is (tenure excluded). Guest guest
haribol prabhus, pamho agtsp Sorry I've missed the last few sessions, work committments. It's great to see progress being made and the brainstorming happening. I agree with keeping it short, clear and concise. When we're doing the brainstorming and the tweeking of any of the 5WH we should not get bogged down too much with the English grammer part as this will be easier to work on when we have a substantial amount of it clarified and approved by the conference. I've been trying to get the Weavers Triangle together and hopefully I can send it next posting, with an explanation. As for the wording this last one seemed fine, it should be a rural development plan for now and the future, but as with all plans it should have reviewal dates, therefore whilst a finish document at one point in time, it may develop beyond this to be a 'living plan'. This then really does cut the difference between the statutory and NGO model of plan which takes in economic, social and other factors at 'a given point in time'. When we are measuring up our plan, it should be from a greenfield ethos looking at 'good practice' role models which are easily transferable and developed in ISKCON communities. A lot of this will come under the What discussion but it needs bearing in mind in all stages. We are not setting out to be another statutory or NGO development group, but a group of people trying to promote Srila Prabhupadas wishes. This may conflict with existing external models at times. Especially the sustainability factor as this is subjective based on situation, local climatic and natural influences and individuals aspirations of what 'lifestyle security' is. So we need to be mindful of keeping a clear generic definition of each part of the process which will account for these natural differences. We may take somethings from the existing rural development plan model, but if we do this right, we can actually offer something better to others external to ISKCON in the form of a finished document which encapsulates much more than standard plans. Following on from this piece of work, we could possibly look at a Quality Standards model for implementation of the finished plan as a tool for communities & individuals alike? A twelve point development tool similar to PQASSO with three levels of standards to aspire to, suggested evidence or practice to indicate the particular level of attainment at any given time, and key points or examples on how to increase through the levels as a working guide tool. ys
