GBC proposal for (VRDP)

 

 

Dear Bhakti-Tirtha Swami,

 

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

 

On the COM Cow conference we are writting a Vaisnava Rural Development Plan

(VRDP). We had originally been trying to have it done by the GBC proposal

deadline for the GBC meetings 2002 but realised that due to the research and

complexity of the Plan we needed more time and have slated it for the 2003

meetings. In brief, The main focus of this plan is to securely place devotees

who are vaisyas by nature on ISKCON land to produce food and protect cows. It

is mainly a practical plan, not so much involved with directling divisions of

varna. We feel the main problem with developing and maintianing rural ISKCON

farms is providing secure living situations for those devotees who have the

ability/talent/desire to work the land. To securely positon these devortees

and provide them a means of economic development based on the land is to give a

survival foundation to ISKCON farms.

 

The members of the conference developing this plan were concerned that by 2003

GBC meetings some land on ISKCON farms might be sold, etc for other means than

rural development and wanted this Ministry to present a proposal for the GBC

meetings in 2002 (deadline Dec 1) to request that no ISKCON farm land be sold ,

etc without going through this Ministry and its subcommittiee for Rrual

Community development so either some solution other than selling can be

suggested or at least we can learn the dynamics of the problem so our plan can

be properly developed.

 

We are approaching you to be the GBC sponsor since you are known to be

concerned about community development. Would you consider being the sponsor for

such a proposal?

I got this answer. We have 10 days to write a proposal and submit it. I will

submit the formal proosal form to the conference. Whoever wants to fill in

the blanks shouild do so.
