So the nomination idea of my previous letter is still appropriate in this

regard.

When I realised that there was no category for cows, I immediately wrote to

the Maharaja, as it seems Hrimati Mataji did, and he immediately rectified

the situation.

 

It seems from his explanation that the categories were suggested by

individual devotees, and that no one had so far suggested that category. So

instead of this being an 'official' GBC thing, the awards are more of a

spontaneous gesture.

 

The situation reflects a society wide malaise, not just from the side of the

GBC. Thinking about it, it does reflect the sad situation wherein we find

that very few devotees in ISKCON from top to bottom think much about cows.

 

Personaly I think that the best remedy for this would be to publicise any

successfull projects more widely, rather than appear to only emphasise the

neglect.
