Guest guest
How about Nanda Krishna Prabhu, our Vet here in Mayapur? He goes to Mangal Artik, runs to the Goshala checks all the calves and cows and bulls and admires medicines, bandages wounds etc., runs back to the temple for class, goes home for breakfast, goes back to the goshala to distill the cow urine for preparations of medicines, than he goes to his government job across the river...again this is caring for the sick cows, than he goes home takes his lunch, goes and takes a bath in the Ganges and is back at the Goshala for checkups and after that he attends the evening program at the temple. He also keeps records of the cows and is always there when I need him to give advice about my cows. He is preaching to devotees about cow urine therapy and general things about cows. Cow protection is much more potential than that (and I'm not talking about dung). When people (esp. in the West) see simple life, they are immediately attracted. Then, when they find that it is false propaganda and that there is not real cowprotection or self-sufficiency in ISKCON, they become unsettled (case in point). Therefore the need for many examples of Srila Prabhupada's vision, or temples using devotee oxen (vegetables and grains) and and devotee cows (milk/ghee/etc). To find that it is all coming from the factory farms is very disturbing for many devotees 0 eventually we become jaded and go on with life, but it needs to be corrected soon if the movement is going to ever grow again in the West. Perhaps it is good that the 'Hindu' movement in this movement sees cowprotection as low-class work. It is the American youth that are looking for a better life in simple living - not others who come to America for a different kind of "better life", they can have it. We simply need to fucus on providing an these examples and tying it into the preaching (not very difficult if we can just get the support). Regarding the Nominations, I vote for everyone, including the cows and bulls. Every cow-herd in ISKCON, anyone who is doing that service, getting dirty, and struggling on each day with sadhana and and the whole business, without glory or support, deserves recognition; they have my utmost respect and support. ----- In a message dated 1/27/2004 10:20:54 AM Central Standard Time, npetroff (AT) bowdoin (DOT) edu writes: ISCOWP (Balabhadra Dasa & Chaya Dasi - USA) wrote: > >Without protection of cows, brahminical culture cananot be maintained; and >without brahminical culture, the aim of life cannot be fulfilled. >SB Canto 8 CH 24 > >According to this quote it should have been at the top of the list. Guest guest
As with all the other categories, I'm sure that everyone is entitled to nominate -- the more nominators the better. Also, you can nominate someone who has already been nominated if you want. I will add both Chaya & Balabhadra and Labangalatika to the list of nominees presented so far, but I think we send our nominations to Chaka or to Bhakti Svarupa Damodara Swami. I'll send mine to both. I also like the idea of ISCOWP nominating devotees. That is very nice. But they should be nominated themselves, which would not be appropriate for them to do. ys hkdd Ekabuddh (AT) aol (DOT) com wrote: >So it is officially Iscowp nominating????? otherwise Iscowp should be a >nominee. >I do however like it that Iscowp is the NominatOR. eka > > >----------------------- >To from this mailing list, send an email to: >Cow-Owner (AT) pamho (DOT) net > >
