I think it would be more potent to nominate as a group (cow conference and

ISCOWP-Ministry for Cow Protection and Agriculture)

We suggest:

Kurma Rupa prabhu (Vrndavana Care for Cows)

Syamasundara prabhu (Bhaktivedanta Manor)

Hungarain Farm

Nandanandana (Vrndavana Goshalla)

Individuals can nominate but just a suggestion that it might be more

weighty if a group nominates and we feel it should be more than 1 person.

More suggestions are welcomed. Maybe it should be limited to a certain

number?

I also think that the letter from Bhakti Svarupa Damodara Swami should be

submitted to Chakra and comment made that cow protection was not mentioned

and why it should be. This is an educational opportunity for both the

leaders and the average devotees. And if it is handled as such it should be

only positve and productive.

Without protection of cows, brahminical culture cananot be maintained; and

without brahminical culture, the aim of life cannot be fulfilled.

SB Canto 8 CH 24

According to this quote it should have been at the top of the list. And

because it was not reflects the lack of understanding of those in the

subcommittee. They need to be educated to what Srila Prabhupada has written

in his books in this regard.

Having visited the Hungarian farm a couple of times I can say that there are

certainly a number of dedicated devotees working in various aspects of the

farm that would be suitable candidates for the award. Having said that it is

apparent that the inspiration and direction of the farm is squarely on the

shoulders of Sivarama Maharaja. He is pushing the devotees to grow their own

food, protect cows, work oxen, to live simply, live devotionallly and at the

same time present to a growing tourist element.

In another year we could nominate some individuals who are hands on in cow

protection and working oxen however it would be appropriate in this first

opportunity to appreciate and acknowledge the unquestionable inspiration and

direction of Sivarama Maharaja in the Hungarian Farm.

I agree with Syamsundara Prabhu's nomiation of HHSivarama Swami. New Vraja

Dhama is an example of the right thing to do--I have personally been very

inspired by it. In fact, my whole outlook for this movement changed when I

learned

of NVD frommy friend Madhusudana. I understand that much (if not all) of the

deity cooking is done with cow dung - how often do we see that outside of

India?

By Reckonizing Maharaja's contribution, there is also the added benefit of

inspiring other spiritual masters (who themselves are in a position to inspire

others) to perhaps take up a similar project and thus help to finaly place a

greater enphasis on this aspect of Srila Prabhupada's mission. You have my vote

for Sivarama Swami.

-Gopal

PS: Their goshalla is 1st class - it is certainly fit for all mothers and

fathers and for the Lord's personal cows!
