Varnasrama College Diary

By Rabindranatha Dasa Adhikari

Friday, January 21, 2005

Things went on as usual today.*

Finished my 16 rounds at 5:17 p.m. and Jaya Gauranga Prabhu lead mangala

arati and myself, Rabindranatha Dasa Adhikari (ACBSP) gave the Srimad

Bhagavatam Class.

As I was saying yesterday about having some cleaning competition with the

Varnasrama College and the brahmacari asrama here at the temple, well one

brahmacari, Radha krpa Prabhu took me up on that.

Also today we started the "Bhaktivedanta Reading Program" here at the

Varnasrama College. Where one gets various certificates by reading Srila

Prabhupada's books. Right now I have four devotees in the program, Namely:

Prema Sankirtana, Suka, Sri Sacinandana and Omar. I plan to check up on them

once in a week.

Today I am planning to put this "Varnasrama College Diary" on the conference

"modern Culture in Relation to Varnashrama" which is on PAMHO on the

internet. Already this diary is on "Varnasrama" and "Cow (Protection and

related issues) that are on PAMHO.

Quote of the day

Our children as the future hope

"I understand that you are the mother of the little boy Purnima das. He is

very nice boy. He is Vaisnava. So you are very fortunate to have such a son.

You can take it that Krsna has given you this son. So you must take care of

him nicely and raise him in Krishna consciousness. All these boys must be

taken care of very nicely. They are the future hope. When he is ready, he

must be taught English and Sanskrit." -Srila Prabhupada (Letter to Suchitra

July 20, 1974)

*For now that means me raising up before 4 a.m., brushing my teeth, taking

bath, putting on tilaka, getting dressed, getting in my car and driving for

about a mile to the temple, being on time for mangala arati and Srimad

Bhagavatam class and cleaning the Varnasrama college office by sweeping and

mopping the floor, empting the trash and cleaning off the office desk. As

time goes on I will write down some of the other things that I do on a

regular basics.

One may ask why mention all these things? The reason I do is to get feedback

from others whether or not one should do such things or for that matter even

mention them. Another reason being is that I am interested in writing a book

on Nitya-Kriya i.e. regular daily activities and also giving a class in it

here at the college.

Just wondered, since your focus is varnasrama, how many are reading the

Prabhupada varnasrama book put together by the GBC Farm Research Committee?
