Guest guest
Varnasrama College Diary By Rabindranatha Dasa Adhikari Sunday, January 23, 2005 Things went on as usual today.* Finished my 16 rounds at 8:26p.m. and Brigupati Prabhu (ACBSP) lead mangala arati and a lecture tape of Srila Prabhupada was played for Srimad-Bhagavatam class. Today at the Varnasrama College table I signed up three more students for the Vedic music class for $60.00, got $26.00 in donations and sold one of the marriage books (Srila Prabhupada quotes about marriage) for $10.00 for a total of $96.00. Today I brought out for the first time the "backdrop"of the cows in front of Govardhana hill for the Varnasrama table. It's been a long day. Quote of the day "The varnasrama-dharma is meant for imperfect, conditioned souls. It trains them to become spiritually advanced in order to return home, back to Godhead. A civilization that does not know the highest aim of life is no better than an animal society. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam: na te viduh svartha-gatim hi visnum [sB 7.5.31]. A human society is meant for elevation to spiritual knowledge so that all of the people can be freed from the clutches of birth, death, old age and disease. The varnasrama-dharma enables human society to become perfectly fit for getting out of the clutches of maya, and by following the regulative principles of varnasrama-dharma, one can become successful. In this regard, see Bhagavad-gétä (3.21-24)." --Bhag. 5.4.14P Whatever action a great man performs, common men follow. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues. O son of Prtha, there is no work prescribed for Me within all the three planetary systems. Nor am I in want of anything, nor have I a need to obtain anything-and yet I am engaged in prescribed duties. For if I ever failed to engage in carefully performing prescribed duties, O Partha, certainly all men would follow My path. If I did not perform prescribed duties, all these worlds would be put to ruination. I would be the cause of creating unwanted population, and I would thereby destroy the peace of all living beings. -Bg. 3.21-4 *For now that means me raising up before 4 a.m., brushing my teeth, taking bath, putting on tilaka, getting dressed, putting a clean cloth over my car seat, getting in my car and driving for about a mile to the temple, being on time for mangala arati, Going back into the Pujari rooms and making sure that everyone is there to bath and dress the Deities, then worshiping my four Salagrama silas, then chanting some rounds in the temple room, then greeting the Deities at 7a.m. then going to Guru-puja, then being on time for the Srimad Bhagavatam class, giving out maha prasadam halava and fruits right after the Srimad Bhagavatam class, leading the prasadam prayer for breakfast; Sarira avidya jal (I recite this prayer even on ekadasi) cleaning the Varnasrama college office by sweeping and mopping the floor, empting the trash and cleaning off the office desk and at night setting two alarm clocks before I turn out the lights. As time goes on I will write down some of the other things that I do on a regular basics.
Guest guest
Does any one want to know what soap Rabindranatha uses and how long he takes to shower. What kind of food he eats and how much. Does he go and clean the stalls and does he bathe the cows? I wonder how many of us want to read his personal dairy other than Kalavati108, on a daily basis. I joined this conference to learn about cows and concerns of cow protection and not to read some one's personal dairy.
