Guest guest
Thankyou for telling us about Iowa.It sounds like an ideal place for devotees to settle and farm. Gopal Das article is very inspring. ys labangalatika - <Kalavatidevi108 (AT) aol (DOT) com> > -------- > > Just to clarify - in my mind at least - what Gopal (my husband) said about > Iowa: > > Iowa is a very nice, beautiful place with a lot of preaching and agricultural > opportunities. Guest guest
Hare Krishna. I have some questions about the new Manor project described in Hari Kirtan Prabhu's letter. - Is a devotee actually not *allowed* to stay on the property unless he is perfectly brahminical or is it that a devotee *wouldn't want to* unless he/she's not perfectly "brahminical" (extremely renounced). Is the original statement referring to the non-existence of a living situation, the attitude of the cowherd, or the attitude of the project manager? I apologize for not understanding which you were referring to. - Are the two devotees who live in the barn doing so because there is nowhere else to live, they can't afford to live somewhere else, the project doesn't allow them money to live somewhere else, or because they choose to live there and the project manager doesn't have a problem with it? The following are just a few thoughts from an inexperienced, completely unqualified, arm-chair cowherd mataji who has no personal knowledge of the situation or the devotees involved. My only experience with cowherd service was minimal in New Vrindavana, so please forgive anything that may sound strange : - Devotees living in the barn conjures the thought in my mind of devotees who would just rather live in the barn! I think of drifters roaming through NV. I really hope that's not the case there. Even if everything's legitimate, it can't be good for preaching and it doesn't allow for the betterment of the situation of "The Cowherd" in the world of ISKCON. We need a precident and we need it soon. If not at the Manor, than elsewhere and the blueprint can be shared throughout all communities. The "lowest bidder" syndrome is not good for anyone. Anyone can please respond to this. Shyamasundara Prabhu and Hari Kirtan Prabhu, I am just gathering information and trying to understand what the letter is referring to. I am sorry if anything sounds offensive or uninformed. Your servant, Kalavati devi dasi
Guest guest
Dear Sir, It is 20 hrs per week. We are managing day to day trying to keep the cows happy with band aid technology. One good thing is the cows don't talk back or complain. Occassionally they do say oommm..mm. They only walk away if the fence has a hole. Even then they come back if we acll for them. Thanking you, sankar sastri --- "ISCOWP (Balabhadra Dasa & Chaya Dasi - USA)" <ISCOWP (AT) pamho (DOT) net> wrote: > Dear Sankar Sastri, > > Hare Krsna. > > On your inquirey for cowherd is the 20 hrs per week > or per month? > > We hope all is well with your project. > > yr servant, > > Balabhadra das > > Visit us at: www.iscowp.org > > > > [Original Message] > > S S <sankar1 > > > Cow (Protection and related issues) > <Cow (AT) pamho (DOT) net> > > 3/17/2004 11:00:02 AM > > (no subject) > > > > A cow sanctuary is looking for Go Sevaks - free > living > > accommodation with a stipend of $ 500 a month in > > exchange for 20 hours of service to the cows. The > > applicants must be cow lovers. Guest guest
Dear Cow Conference members, I was thinking that some of you may be interested in the discussions that (I hope) will gradually develop on these discussion groups. I made these because they are my three focuses (is that an oxy-moron?) and I believe there is a need for everyday exchange on these important topics. They are independent lists but have some core issues in common. Please stop by the mainpage of each group to read the "descriptions" and feel free to share feedback with me - after subscribing of course . I really want these lists to be useful and inspired, so any advice or discussion would be greatly appreciated. In case any of you are wondering what any of this has to do with cow protection and why I'm posting this information here, I offer this image: homeschooled Vaisnava children milking cows as active and respected members of healthy families who live within strong communities based on compassionate and service oriented relationships creating a healthy environment and world in which to practice devotional service and glorify Krishna...
