Guest guest
a few points: devotees who do not support conventional, commercial dairies are not necessarily "vegans" in the socially/politically charged spirit of the word. so the percentage of argument against "veganism" is perhaps somewhat being used as a strawman argument when these topics come up. also, conventional commercial milk is not exactly vegetarian either. GMO grains are fed to the animals and GMO contain animal and human cells. Calcium and Vit. D, etc. are added to dairy products too. These can come from dead animals. Rennet and gelatin are not the only culprits. certified organic, GMO-free dairy foods are much better to consider in this debate on the eternal and absolute benefits of offering *relatively* "clean" foods to Krishna. If we're going to get *relative*, then we should look at the cleanest end of the spectrum. If there's not 100% pure, uncontaminated food available, we can still offer something that's 95% clean and actually nutritious instead of something that's 65% clean (or whatever), heavily dosed with antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides, herbicides, GMO's and so forth. I think Gopananda Prabhu made a beautiful point about *full on compassion* and offered a rather specific look at potential hypocrisy without his own dose of judgement. I am wondering why "vegan doctrine" and "offense to Prabhupada" are being invoked in this way. open to comments. Your servant, Kalavati devi dasi PS - I know these points aren't related to Syamasundara Prabhu's question. I'm only responding to the recent couple of posts, because I think with all the input, his expertise, etc. Syamasundara Prabhu will make a good decision about the horse(s). Guest guest
I know that sannyasis, brahmancaris and temples in general subsist mostly on donations, so I'm not criticizing that group of devotees. I'm just offering the idea that grhastas or other independent devotees can exercise more options of what they can offer in regard to dairy and other products.
