Guest guest
People are unaware of the knowledge given to human society in the Vedic literature. For example, the Vedas inform us that cow dung is pure. Here in America especially, people bring their dogs onto the street to pass stool. Of course, dog stool is very impure—germs thrive in it. But people are such rascals that they do not consider this; instead, they distribute dog stool everywhere. But there's no cow dung to be seen, even though the Vedas say that cow dung is pure. Here is a sign: "Littering Illegal." But dog stool is allowed. Just see how foolish people are. It is illegal to drop a paper on the grass, but your dog is allowed to pass stool. The government authorities will not allow you to bring even one mango from another country; but they will allow your dog to distribute its stool everywhere, although this stool is full of infectious germs. In the 1970's when Prabhupada is discussing the merits of recycling paper -- it was practically unheard of. Now it's part of most municiple garbage programs. Similary, vegetarianism was rare when Srila Prabhupada first came to the US -- now your restaurant is considered completely unsophisticated if it doesn't offer vegetarian items. Even MacDonalds is serving garden burgers. And the better restaurants actually have some interesting vegetarian entrees. Similarly, in most big cities in the US, dog owners are now expected to clean up their animals droppings. There was a small tempest in a teapot when our campus decreed that locals from the town could no longer walk their dogs on the campus, which is filled with large green lawns and beautiful trees. Finally, in the interest of town relationships, the college decided to let people walk their dogs as long as they clean up the droppings. So many little changes toward what Prabhupada was advocating -- too bad they weren't in place when he was here -- especially the rules about cleaning up after dogs! ys hkdd > >----------------------- >To from this mailing list, send an email to: >Cow-Owner (AT) pamho (DOT) net > >
