Generally in natural pest control methods you create conditions which drive away the pests or you help the predator living entities to control the pests. Some insect etc will remain but they will we in control. If you do organic farming then in course of few years(2-3) the land and environment is such created so that the plants become more pest resistent. Also the hybrid varieties are more susceptible to pests but the traditinal varities are pest resistant. In west almost no or very less traditional varitites are remaning. In India they are slowly disappearing but are still there. So this is whole cycle. First buy the fertilizer, then seeds, then pesticides, then tractors, then weedicides etc etc. > > If you had an infestation in your rice or wheat harvest what can you do > about it? In India still there are various ways known in local areas where a person can find those out. But it is based on experience. If we are determined then Sri Krsna will give us guidance from within. Also hue monocropping is not according to traditional farming. In India traditioally there was mixed cropping for which one can't use modern machines and the effect of pests is less. > > Bees. Don't know. > We know that in an emergency even the killing of a cow is allowed so what > can be killed in the normal farming process and in what circumstances. As minimum as possible. More you kill more your farm goes away from organic farming. Because its very difficult to do selective killing. we want to kill one pests and spray but along wil that 1000's of usefull species of living entities are killed and farm is now more susceptible for next pest attack. Opposite is true with less killing. Better to take loss once than to get entangled. In trditional organic farming the cost is low and loss can be tolerated. In modrn farming the investment is huge and losses become intolerable. Also in mixed cropping one pest may eat one crop but we get yield from other crops. So that is also tolerable. Mixed cropping is not impracticle but has to be done with some planning and intelligence. More you kill more he has to go on doing it again and agian. > Comments please. We can regulary spray natural cow urine based, and other natural pesticides so that chances of the attack decreases. Prevention is better than cure. > > ys syam Your Servant Madan Gopal Das
