We have been praying and crying, and crying and praying, ever since we got the word she was sick. Would it be alright if Sarah and I came to be with you when Drapaudi is buried on Monday? I haven't yet talked to Sarah...she's at a friend's house tonight...but I feel a very strong need to be there to honor her soul and to be with people who understand why I care. I was with a group of friends last evening, and when I expressed my concern for this cow and also for what my daughter was going through over it, a woman broke out into hilarious laughter, and made joke after joke after joke. It was extremely upsetting to me. Could we please come be with you for the day, and possibly spend the night there at the farm, and then leave in the morning refreshed? It will depend on whether or not I can get the money together for gas, but if I can, there is nowhere that I'd rather be. I have been praying for that woman ever since then. Please add her to your prayers. (Pray for me, too...so I don't wring her neck! Hahaha! Just kidding...I think!) Thank you again for the work that you do. I am very proud to be involved with this project. We'd like to pick out another cow or an oxen to adopt when we come, whether now or Labor Day. We would very much still like to attend. We got the June newsletter today in the mail, and it was good to read what you wrote about Drapaudi last month. It really does seem that she was happy and content up until nearly the end. I'm glad her passing was quick. I'm very grateful to know that Drapaudi had so much love and human touch in the last several days. I'm sure she was loved. I was so moved to read that the other cows came to visit. How did they react when she died? Are there any signs of grief among them? I don't think I told you, but I am in the final stages of becoming a doctor of naturopathy. What I plan to do with my work is to teach people how to care for themselves in more natural ways using simple God given things like proper breathing, whole foods and herbs, exercise, laughter, music, aromas, meditation, massage and prayer, to mention a few. A big part of my commitment to God is to help animals, too. All the same techniques work on them. I have other friends who are also practitioners of natural healing who would like to work with animals, too. We're not up and running yet...I won't graduate until October. But if there ever is any way in which I can help after that, please let me know, and I will be happy to try. Thank you again, and God bless you. Please let me know if we could come there. If it's not practical, we'll understand. It might not even be possible for us at this time. I'm not even sure where you are at, or how far of a drive it would be. Either way, please know we are sending our love. Love and blessings to you and the cows, Mary
Guest guest
Dear Balabhadra, Please accept my humble obeisances. _/\o_ All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Thank you for saring the story about the passing of Draupadi. Maria's reply about the lady that laughed her head off made me realise how important your work is. Here in Mayapur in my neighborhood one cow died a few days ago. Everyone was talking about it and asking the cause etc. In other words...people were concerned and cared. I am talking about the normal Dham Bhasis (Muslims and Hindus alike). At the end I found out that she had dies of a snake bite. I still remember a long time ago when I was living in Oklahoma and trying to find a farmer, who would sell me some fresh milk...One Lady, when I was looking at her cows, said to me :"look at all that nice meat." I guess those cows must have been "dry"?? *** Srila Prabhupada ones said: Now you have got nice, beautiful American body, but by your work, if you are going to accept next life dog's life, then what is the benefit of your activities? Because there is no guarantee that you will again get the American body. Even if you get the American body again, but there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to live. If you get the American body of a cow, you will be slaughtered, even though you are American. So this is ignorance. *** Thank you again for dedicating you life in the service of our mothers and fathers the cows. And in engaging people like Maria. In spite of all the faults of Kali-yuga, the Vedic seers long ago determined this age to be worshipable among the four yugas. ** For in Kali-yuga, the most merciful avatara of the Supreme Lord appears to teach the easiest and yet most powerful dharma of all. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura writes (Gitavali, Sri Godruma-candra-bhajana-upadesa 8): kali-kukkura-mudgara-bhava-dharam hari-nama-mahausadha-dana-param patitarta-dayardra-su-murti-dharam bhaja godruma-kanana-kunja-vidhum Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is like a powerful hammer that smashes the sin and oppression of the mad dog of Kali-yuga, and He is absorbed in distributing the holy name of Krsna, which is the great medicine for release from material existence. His transcendental form is beautiful, and His heart full of compassion for the suffering, fallen souls of this world. Just worship Lord Caitanya, the moon of the forest groves of Godruma. Hoping this will meet you in good health by the grace of Krishna.
