Guest guest
Sat Nam! All 3 aspects of witnessing that you mention are "ways" to practice staying aware of the present moment. Living in the moment is saying yes to whatever shows up in that moment, to not fight against the "is" ness, to not run towards the future nor retreat to the past. Even if the present moment is full of pain, lonliness, or fear...it is what it is. It has been my experience the more present I can stay and accept whatever is; the clearer and more perfect the pain, grief, bliss, joy, etc. becomes. To me that is living in the moment. Blessings! Guest guest
One of the more profound statements I've read is from the excellent book on the subject titled "The power of now" by Eckhart Tolle. It is to "Accept each moment as if you had chosen it." I have drawn from this wisdom many times when angry, sad, or feeling less than excellent. Evidently, we are out of practice with living in the present now. I really enjoy teaching yoga classes on this subject and I find it helps to practice little "now awareness" moments both during the exercises and between the exercises during the "rest" periods. When we feel an agitation during an exercise, it is a resistance to the now. So by bringing the awareness, breath, mind, body, soul, all to the now, the resistance disolves and we then flow along with the exercise rather than resist it. It is our mind's chatter that resists the now, so it is helpful to feel the now with the body. The power of now book is also available on audio CD which can be listened to during a quiet time, perhaps prior to practice, or after meditation. For me, it's too profound to listen to while driving... Sat Nam, Diana Bellucci
