Guest guest
Does no one see the problem here? So many emails trying to work around the limitations of simple living -- to communicate about simple living! Dear Sri Rama, we are all frustrated. We are wanting to live simply on the Iskcon farms Srila Prabhupada gave us for that purpose, but the authorities are not allowing it. So we are trying other solutions, and communicating them on com, and trying to stop cow abuse with it, and encourage one another, and trying to communicate Prabhupada's desires about simple life, and in the meantime we are saving our resources to do it i.e. simple life, in the NEAR future because we are growing older quickly. These are some of the reasons we are "using a thorn to remove a thorn". I personally lived simply on an Iskcon farm, and preferred that to anything, but I was stopped. So, not currently being able to do it, if I am going to live with technology, at least let me use it to propagate Srila Prabhupada's desires ys, niscala ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

These are some of the reasons we are "using a thorn to remove a > thorn". Personaly I think that this means is very useful if it encourages others to take the fist stept to living simply. Finaly after one year of trying my family and I have some land. I am finding com to be immensely helpful to allow me to get my feet quickly and learn from the vast experience others have to offer. Just the suggestions and comments I have received over the last few months have probably saved me years of trial and error. In the vedic age, there was an entire culture of simple living, but now much of that is lost. Attempting to live simply in this age is not easy, and even worse, many of our devotees openly scorn the idea. So it is invaluable to be in communication with others around the world for a person who is alone and trying something they have never done before. The stakes are great. Prabhupada wanted us to live simply, and if we can do it, I feel it will be greatly pleasing to him. He says we should live ideal life, not idle life. Personaly I feel, as Niscala mataji also pointed out, that making the attempt to live simply is the most sorely needed activity that our society needs. We need as many examples of devotees making the move to simple living to prove that it IS possible. Then we need to make available all of the data regarding successes and failiures so that others in future can make the transition much more easily, and when it is all common knowledge, then we can throw the computers away. Personaly I have withdrawn now from the most verbose conferences, and only access those with knowledge by which I can build a new life, and I am very grateful for them. So we need to use com, but not abuse it, and when we can, we can give it up. Thats the way I see it. YS Samba das
