Guest guest
Hare Krsna cowprotectors Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada. As the situation is today, with competing economics, cow-protection and self-sufficiency with an economic basis is not possible. I have read several ideas of economic cow protection. The last one is the project in Alachua. How can I make the cow and bull pay for their expenses, and if possible a little extra. This is not protection but exploitation. So I should be settled somewhere with my economic problems taken care of, then I can start taking care of a cow like a pet, Krsna's favorite animal. The goal is to protect the cow to please Krsna. And if I am rewarded with some milk, dung for the garden and muscles to pull something, that is very nice. Every body does it small scale, each family just a few cows. A problem is that most "farm" communities (ISKCON centers in the countryside) are managed like a city preaching center. They just happen to be in the country. I think the way to develop varnasrama is to give away "temple land" for life to the devotees who want to develop selfsufficiency and cowprotection. The support of all "leaders" is very important. They have to set the example, but they even never talk about. It should be brought up every class, just as important as sankirtan and pujari. We could start a trust with money making trustees in the city. Some families on a piece of land to run a dairyfarm. The families are dependent for their livelyhood on the donations. The cows have to produce to keep the donors happy. The donors depent on the economic situation. etc. With all this interdepence it becomes less stable. If a families can make more money else where they can easely go. We are dependent on the cows, but they should be dependent on us, that is protection. Keep it small, lets go for quality not quantity. There is a whole line of propane refrigerateurs tho, and root cellars should be a part of any sustainable planning. Regardless, emphasis on simple living. Another way to say it is no net useage from the grid, that allows for electrical useage but tneds to be more self limiting if you need to be creating some juice yourself.
