What was your idea? Your servant, Chayadevi
Guest guest
Haribol Mataji, PAMHO AGTSP As far as an idea goes, I haven't come up with a full on plan yet. I was waiting to see if it was something that would be accepted/encouraged and to see if there was anyone who would want to help. As I said, I have experience in this field. In my college days in Gainesville (before I joined in '92), I founded an organization which targeted animal cruelty through literature, seminars and "action". After that was established, I did an internship at Farm Sanctuary (a place that takes care of abused animals and slaughterhouse survivors) in Watkins Glen, NY. I lived there for 6 months and worked with the animals and the eductional aspects of the organisation. While living in the Potomac temple, I worked as a canvasser for PETA. Basically, I have enough knowledge and resources on the subject to use for preaching purposes. Right now, my guru has my wife and I living in downtown Portland. The preaching here is unlimited. We can reach alot of people, and Portland has the largest ratio of vegetarians per capita than anywhere else in America. I'd like to start a conference on COM, possibly. To let devotees know what's up. For instance, products that devotees should or shouldn't use (companies they shouldn't support-i.e.Proctor & Gamble). I'd eventually like to take up animal/cow protection full time, if there are any farms that need someone in the future. Please let me know how all of this sounds. Sorry it was so long. Yes, you are needed in the future, you are needed in the present, and you were needed in the past. > > Please let me know how all of this sounds. Sorry it was so long. > YS, Jaya Govinda dasa Although the devotees continue to try to mine hippy culture for new bhaktas, the gems that were found there, driven to the alternative culture by the VietNam war, are scarce today. The sincere, mode of goodness alternative culture types that have great potential to be be devotees or allies of the devotees are now to be found in the environmental movement and the animal rights movement. Cow protection in a concrete, realistic manner has the potential for reaching that demographic.
