Maneka Gandhi writes in an article called " The Blood Curdling Truth" in the

Animal Citizen published by AWBI that this drug oxytoxin is injected twicw

daily into dairy cows in India, illegally. It causes severe labour pains,

reduces the supply of blood to the brain, predisisposes newborns to jaundice,

can rupture the uterus, It causes permanent sterility in cows so they are sent

for slaughter 10 years before their natural lifespan is over.

 

 

It filters into the milk and is held responsible for uterine cancer,

impotence, erratic periods, premature development of breasts in both sexes,. It

is harmdul to the eyes especially in children,Pregnant women who drink such

milk risk haemorrage . It is banned and sold cheaply on the black market

near every dairy. The animal husbandry department encourages it as it is

their job ti see there is enough milk on the market at minimum cost , and they

want a regular supply of calves in slaughterhouses for calf leather and

meat,. The mother will give milk only if she sees her baby but with oxytoxin

injections she is forced to give milk anyway, The Health Department has

banned it because of its harmful nature so the 2 govt departments work at

cross purposes. She says the only way to stop is that you visit your local

dairy and see if they use the drug by seeing ampoules and injections and

scars on the cows and file an FIR, and inform the Drug controller's Office. A

chemist selling it can lose his licence and the dairy owner can go to jail for

5 years.
