Thankyou, Hari Lila and Bala Krsna, for defending what is a community

struggling hard despite

so much difficulty to follow Srila Prabhupada’s directions, for simple

living

All glories to the sincere efforts of the devotees at Saranagati!. You have

a harsh climate...and a

harsh government...despite all that you are following a simple life and are

being accused unfairly.

Hari Lila says.

"Saranagati pays about $10,000 a year in taxes to the government. All the

devotees who live here live very simply. Hardly anyone who lives here has a

lot of money. Devotees are trying to live off the land. Without the farm

status the taxes would be about $18,000 a year."

 

She says it's not a question of having the money. "Devotees here don't have

money. They pay the government as much as they can pay, but they don't have

the extra money to pay the government if there were no farm status."

 

Bala Krsna says the farm might well be lost because they could not pay the

high government bills.

 

It isn't a situation they feel they can change.

 

Even if they could somehow build a huge stone wall, it would have to be 15

miles long...”

 

When Drutakarma came to Australia with his presentation of Divine Nature, he

presented only 2

farming communities as really showing an example of alternative, simple

living. I was amazed that

one could be in such a place as Canada- that devotees are actually doing

this there!!!(I wouldn’t

have believed it but he had a video to prove it!)

But now I hear as well, there is incredibly high governmental taxation. What

a mammoth effort,

its like delivering Jagai and Madhai, because if they could be saved anyone

could -well if they can

live simply in Canada, with its climate and government, we should be able to

do it anywhere.

I hope the devotees in Saranagati will not become discouraged by any of the

rumours mongered

about on com, and bless us all with a small drop of their faith in the words

of our spiritual master,

their renunciation of the hellish dependency on the “machine civilization”,

their leading by

showing an ideal example of simple life, their showing a shining example to

us all. Hoping one day

to get the determination and faith to follow in your footsteps,
