For Immediate Release 10/13/99

 

On Saturday, October 16, 1999, members and supporters of Supporting and

Promoting Ethics for the Animal Kingdom (SPEAK-Tucson) will gather in protest

twice at local McDonald's restaurants. Saturday morning, from 11:30am to

12:30pm, at 6651 E. Tanque Verde (Dinosaur McDonald's), and then again from

4:30 to 5:30pm at 3856 E. Speedway Blvd. near Alvernon Way. These protests are

in observance of Worldwide Day of Action Against McDonald's, and in

conjunction with the kickoff of PETA's "Slam McDonald's" campaign across the

globe. Over 200 demonstrations, protests and tabling efforts are expected to

take place in the US, Canada, and worldwide. Picket signs will be held,

banners raised, cow costumes worn, and literature outlining the suffering and

abuse endured by animals raised and slaughtered for food endure at the hands

of corporate factory farming tecniques, will be passed out to motorists and

passersby. All are welcome to join.

 

SPEAK-Tucson representatives Brendan DeSmet and Jeremy Dyer will be available

for comment at this very important event.
