Ifind this a bit disheartening......when will that day come

when we shall produce such ksatriyas "well-trusted by the people"? What

about

someone who is trusted because of his proven dedication to SP's

instructions, even if

he is not well-versed in economics and social order, but is determined to

give the

vaisyas under his care the best opportunity he can for them to live simply

and protect

cows, and who wants to use the percentage tax he recieves from them to stock

grains

for times of necessity, or to build a beautiful temple for general spiritual

upliftment, or

a gurukula for training our next generation. Such a ksatriya sets his sights

on

Prabhupada's example of a perfect manager: not one cent wasted or spent

frivolously,

nor hoarded for sense gratification. Stress has to be laid, not on economics

courses

which may side-track into alternative occupations, e.g. accountancy, but on

following

Srila Prabhupada. If this is what the vaisyas desire, they will demand it of

their leader,

they will not accept less. Motives of an prospective leader have to be

scrupulously

analyzed: does he have as no.1 priority, pleasing Srila Prabhupada by

following his

instructions and the example he set?

As I mentioned earlier, in the transitional stage of

varnasrama in many

cases I do not believe it is practical to immediately attempt Srila

Prabhupada's ideal of subsistence-oriented production.

You've bewildered

me...why????????Wasn't it in a very transitional stage, that Srila

Prabhupada gave us

instructions for subsistance- oriented production?????In your own book

"Srila

Prabhupada's Varnasrama Mission" you lay stress on just this- subsistance-

oriented

production, laying it clear the pitfalls, socially, environmentally,

spiritually of not doing

so, and giving plenty of quotes. If every devotee read your book, they would

be

enough of them so convinced that a leader would emerge among them, with the

right

motives to be a good ksatriya. I gave it to only one devotee who is a bit of

a leader in

our community and she held a meeting on "how to implement this", it had such

an

effect on her. That was only one...
