Livelihood from cows and oxen

Just to get started only is already such a

hardship and in most cases enough to discourage anyone away from the idea.

I speak from personal experience... if I would have had the support needed,

I would be developping my farm by now.

Well you’re not the only one Dirk. Myself and several friends- the same

words could have come

out of our mouths.

I just lost a wonderful opportunity

to buy a farm (cheap) just because I lack the money. I just don't have any

after having dedicated myself for 3 years to the temple

Change the 3 years to whatever (upwards of 10) and you have us here as

well...

.. And this is just

peanuts. I know there's many others in more dramatic situations ...

so for now I'm stuck with my desire only and taken realisitically it will

take me years to get sufficient money together (unless a similar opportunity

pops up again, but it's unlikely... prices are going up continually).

Well here we have it folks. Someone who’s just itching to live simply and

ISKCON farms are

undermanned the world over. What’s going wrong????

So for our future generations of cowherds and to avoid further embarrasments

of abuse and even slaughter, we should seriously develop support systems to

first of all EDUCATE people in the proper practices, then HELP THEM

FINANCIALLY to get started and FOLLOW UP their projects.

My point is, the ISKCON farms are crying out they are undermanned, the bulls

are unengaged,

the devotees are crying out they have no money for land, lets put it all

together....What do you

come up with?

So what is it about ISKCON farms that a devotee who wants to live simply,

does not consider

them an option? What POLICIES do we need to change? Why can’t this devotee

feel

cent-per-cent secure developing a piece of an ISKCON farm? Even if he could

afford a deposit

for some land, for repayment he would have to cash-crop, which means

practically 16 +hr/day

work with bullocks, or employing heavy machinery, both of which are

undesirable. Financial help

will not come, rest assured, but land is lying vacant the world over, ISKCON

land. Anyone got

ideas?

ys, niscala
