Guest guest
Dear all, With the absence of progress on the VRDP of late I have had the time and space to step back a bit: reading, talking and feeling my way around the issue we are involved within. Reading yet another book on the whole issue of vegetarianism, again it is easy to note that though it may be argued for from all perspectives the logistics of securing the desired diet are seldom put forth. I have yet to find a mainstream or sectarian book, except Prabhupadas (and Syam's handbook to a degree), that deals directly with getting the diet on the vegetarians' tables. In fact if we trace the last 150 years of vegetarianism in the west we can note how all writers, except a noted few, sidestep the whole issue of what to do with the animals; and more important to us, sidestep the whole methodology and technicalities of animal protection. So again we must come to the conclusion that for animal protectors ISKCON, thanks to Prabhupada, is in reality the best practice on the world market at this moment. And this conference is meant to serve to bring this practice higher and higher. It is thus imperative to the welfare of the land, animals and humans that a sustainable development plan de devised that will engender the furtherment of this sacred mission. At the forefront of PETA, The Humane Society, CIWF, the Vegetarian Society, etc,. stands the cow protectors. The former, on the whole, are not interested in leading the way we want to go, they are the pack, we must be the leaders, and we must create a gateway to lead the herd through, a gateway to the land of protection.
