Interesting to hear Srila Prabhupada suggest thatched roofs. My sister and her

husband are very active in several conservation groups in Ohio. One big

problem

throughout much of the U.S. has been the invasion of a reed-like plant called

"fragmites" (frag- my - tees -- I'm not sure I spelled it correctly). It

invades marshy areas and roadside ditches, wiping out all other plants.

They have found out that actually fragmites is excellent for making thatched

roofs. They are coming to Maine at the end of April to attend a workshop on

how

to build thatched roofs. Apparently, the person who does these workshops can

arrange to hold them in different parts of the country. Here's his

information:

If anyone is interested in taking up Srila Prabhupada's suggestion to build

thatched roofs, and at the same time help get rid of an invasive species, I

have also listed the website below.
