Guest guest
Yes we all drink milk. Srila Prabhupada drank milk. He drank the same milk we did.The cows that give milk at these big dairies are very well taken care of. Srila Prabhupada did not agree with this when he wrote: (SB): "By nature's arrangement the calf is not only beautiful to look at, she gives pleasure to the cow, but in the Kali-yuga, the calf is separated from the cow as early as possible, for reasons which may not be mentioned in these pages of SB, the cow stands with tears in her eyes, the sudra milk man draws milk from her artificially...THESE GREATLY SINFUL ACTIVITIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE SUFFERING IN HUMAN SOCIETY" Srila Prabhupada drank milk, while introducing it to the meat eaters, by preparing tasty preparations with it. Thus so many got to taste sanctified prasadam...Would we have followed if he recommended the austere vegan diet? This was in the beginning. Then in due course, because without cow protection, brahminical culture is impossible, he introduced us to the concept and lifestyle of protecting cows, and utilizing THEIR products to produce the same tasty items. He wanted these tasty items from our protected cows to be sold at the restaurants, and used in the city temples. The big temples in the cities can't raise cows. Yes, so he gave the program described above. Now if there is no difference between milk and milk products from karmi farms and those from protected cows, then why did he bother with this massive and expensive endeavour, to produce the same, tasty products? Please answer. . .. Why did he devote purports and conversations to explaining that for society to advance in any sphere, there must be cow protection? Or the dire consequences of not doing so? Why did he aspire to drink the milk of our own cows? So question is, why are so many of our farms not producing milk, thus denying us the opportunity of this more desirable type of dairy product? ;The protection of cows maintains the most miraculous form of food, i. e.,milk for maintaining the finer tissues of the brain for understanding higher aims of life. So, who is arguing? No one is arguing the value of milk from protected cows. We would just like the opportunity have it. What went wrong? We have ignored Srila Prabhupada's directions to live simply, and basing our lifestyles on cash-flow have bred the cows for this purpose, instead of for self-sufficiency. So we have overbred, and the land available was soon insufficient, breeding came to a halt along with the milk-flow and that is the ISKCONstory pretty much accross the globe. So what are you saying? That we are guilty of abusing cows by drinking milk from the store? You are implicated in the reaction of abuse. As shown in the above purport, the way modern dairying is done, it is greatly sinful, and the reaction is shared by those who support it. Same with anything. We are implicated in that we have not followed Srila Prabhupada's program of making milk products from protected cows easily available to all. Thus, by not surrendering, we are implicated in reaction. (sarva-dharman...) The glories of drinking cow's milk are everywhere in Srila Prabhupada's books. And the dire consequences of slaughtering the mother who gives it! No other activity is more sinful. Therefore, if we want to be free from reaction and still get the benefit of drinking milk, we have to live simply and do it. At least some of us. "The cow should be protected, milk should be drawn from the cows, and this milk should be prepared in various ways. One should take ample milk, and thus one can prolong one's life, develop his brain, execute devotional service, and ultimately attain the favor of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As it is essential to get food grains and water by digging the earth, it is also essential to give protection to the cows and take nectarean milk from their milk bags. " Thankyou for these beautiful quotes. In all cases Prabhupada is specifying milk from protected cows. Elsewhere he condemns modern dairying. In the face of not supporting this grossest of sins, if there is no milk production from protected cows, these CONDITIONAL vegans, only taking milk from protected cows, are only trying to please Srila Prabhupada and Gopal, who both love them dearly, ys, niscala. Meanwhile having failed to penetrate the thinking of the leaders of our farms, we are pooling together our resources, different interested families inclined to simple living, to purchase land to show simple living combined with cow protection. Land is not cheap, and its a few years away, but we're slowly getting there. There has to be fine brain tissues in order to say, 'Let us sit down and talk about this together. ' I agree with that! Let's do it here, and please, If you disagree with anything I have said, you can contact me on or off the cow com., I am more than happy to respond. ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
