Guest guest
Dear Prabhu,s PAMHO AGTSP Sorry about the delay in replying to this very important issue. I have been out of the country in India and simultaneously my e mail account expired, Now I am back and re conected. As of today there has been 71 confimed outbreaks of Foot an Mouth on various farms throughout the UK. The Government has a very hard policy of complete herd eradication if even one animal cow, sheep, goat or pig shows signs of FMD. Thankfully the Bhaktivedanta Manor herd is OK. There are some out breaks within 100 miles and we are praying that we are not effected. The Virus is very easy to spread i.e. by physical contact and by the wind. As a precaution we have stopped any visitors to the goshalla area and pasuring fields. The 4 farm workers who have access to the cows are dipping their shoes in disinfectant before entering the farm area. Tommorrow we will be meeting to see if we need to strengthen any of our safety issues. As you are probably aware FMD is usually not fatal to the cows if left alone. It is common that cows with the disease will become lame, can get acute mastitas, their yields will drop and they can also abort. If left alone the cows will generaly recover after about 3 weeks. The Governments hard policy is to avoid the economic impact of the disease for the reasons I have mentioned. At this terrible time we humbly ask you all to give your earnest prayers to Lord Krishna and Lord Nrsimhadeva for their protection for Bhaktivedanta Manor's cows and indead all the suffering cows.
