It's a real problem in ISKCON that anyone with an internet connection feels qualified or compelled to correct the GBC or give their mindless solutions to the problems that ails ISKCON. It's an even bigger problem that many, even socalled older devotees, seem to think that a Ph.D. or any other type of mundane education somehow is a qualification to speak on devotional service. I think it should be mandatory to read ALL of Prabhupada's books at least once before one dares open his mouth to correct his superiors. Until then one should simply keep his mouth shut and enter a bhakta program and learn something. ys, jdd
Guest guest
Hare Krsna. I don't want to comment on the specifics of the recent proposal, but at least it's got a little dialogue going. I recall the first response was saying that the leaders would never give up their power. Is that what passes for spiritual leadership in ISKCON? Another suggested that Srila Prabhupada wanted the GBC to continue, or at least that's essentially the way I remember the comment. I don't know if Srila Prabhupada expected such a horrific scandal as the child abuse in ISKCON, but the GBC presided over it and more. (If he had expected it, then why did he call for the gurukuls to be instituted?) Personally, I could never have imagined such a colossal failure of the leadership in the Hare Krishna movement, and it has struck some truly staggering blows to my faith in ISKCON. I'm still stunned by it. What would be wrong with a change in leadership? Does anyone think that the present GBC is composed of all the qualified leaders in ISKCON? If not, then why not give others a chance? We might find the return of many Hare Krishna folks who left discouraged by the way of things in ISKCON. I wouldn't be surprised if those who would most readily step down would again be asked to take up their leadership role again, so why not give them a chance to teach us renunciation by their good example? Since when are those who cling to power considered good leaders, especially in a spiritually oriented society? Obviously the recent proposal wasn't exactly what everyone was looking for, but I would be surprised if there weren't any good ideas in there. Maybe it would be good to identify them and work from there. Hare Krsna. Sincerely, Pandu das
