I think it depends on the context. If the king has already been established

as King of Kalinga or wherever, then the first is fine. If the king is just

a generic king, maybe among other kings, the second is better. The third

you don't need, because if he's "the king," he's been established as the

king of somewhere.

None of the above.

Because if the King is king in the sense that he represents the Supreme Lord (Krishna), then it should be King - not king.

 

An ordinary king is a mundane sovereign over a particular nation.

A king that represents the Supreme Lord (Krishna) is the King of the world.

 

The King who represents the Supreme Lord is better known as Emperor.

The Emperor rules over many kings and therefore he is King of kings.

 

The Emperor who is the King of kings is the representative of the Supreme Lord.
