Guest guest
Some where Sri Ramana mentioned that Self Enquiry is for ripe souls. Unless one is convinced of the logic built up by advaita texts offering explanation to the relationship between self (ego), world and God one cannot comprehend the significance of Sri Ramana's teaching. Reading of texts like ashtavakra gita, vieka choodamani, yogavasishtam etc. would answer many questions. In fact when i was drawn to Ramana I did not have any exposure to these texts. As Sri Harsha said "Talks with Ramana' did wonders to me and the change brought in me by the practice of Self Enquiry is tremendous. I feel even grasping of the process of self -inquiry is not that simple. One would get help from Him as one starts practicing and leads to certain convictions helping in turn to 'be as you are ' There are wonderful benefits like capacity to meet ups and downs of life with equanimity; tolerating others' weaknesses or failures or evil mindedness without hating them, contentment with what we have. It cut short all the cravings of the senses and a confidence that I do not require another body for fulfilment of any desire. I feel that it would have taken several incarnations for me to achieve the progress given by self inquiry especially when I observe some people the conviction is more. At a particular stage in my life i could face one of the important disappointments of life by remembering Bhagavan's statement' you can never satisfy any desire fully as pursuing the desire is nothing but like trying to put off fire by pouring ghee in to it. I am of the view, that to the extent possible seniors should try to answer the questions of devotees who accept Ramana's teachings Ramana Sarma
